The Program in Epithelial Biology in the Department of Dermatology, Chang Lab, seeks a Life Science Technician 1 (LST-1) to assist with research projects in cancer biology, stem cell biology and molecular medicine. The LST-1 will perform cell culture, flow cytometry, and molecular biologic techniques, including cell culture, isolation of DNA, RNA and protein from cells and tissues, protein immunoblots, PCR and gene expression analysis, chromatin extraction, preparation of ATAC-seq, ChIP-seq, CLIP-seq libraries, next generation sequencing. Assists with ordering supplies and maintaining lab organization.
Qualifications:
  • Understanding of molecular and cell biology principles and some previous experience with tissue culture and molecular biology techniques generally associated with approximately one year's employment experience in laboratory work or equivalent training (e.g., one year of college science).
  • Experience with handling and processing next generation sequencing is desirable.
  • Must be detail-oriented and able to keep accurate records of experiments.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with a diverse group of staff.
  • Good organizational and computer skills required.
  • Some experience with next generation sequencing protocols is desirable.
  • Some overtime work may be required.
