POSITION:       ASSOCIATE VICE PRESIDENT, REAL ESTATE AND CAPITAL PROJECTS                      

LOCATION:      FACILITIES AND CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT

JOB SUMMARY: New Jersey City University is searching for an Associate Vice President of Real Estate & Capital Projects. Reporting to the Vice President & Chief Operating of the Division of Operations and Innovation.  Under the direction of the Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the Division of Operations and Innovation, the Associate Vice President, Real Estate and Capital Projects serves as the chief officer in the planning and designing of on-campus and off-campus real estate projects. The position is a part of a senior team dedicated to transformational leadership, excellent customer service and best practices in developing, maintaining and improving the infrastructure of the University.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides strategic leadership and oversight in the development of the annual capital plan, off-campus real estate projects and leased University properties by working cooperatively and collaboratively with other campus offices, the President’s cabinet and the senior leadership team. Ensures that the management and implementation of real estate strategies complies with state statutes and University policies and procedures to achieve superior operational efficiency and effectiveness. Promotes teamwork, superior customer service, and manages to achieve the University’s Mission, Strategic Plan, Facilities Master Plan, and standards of professionalism. Works with internal stakeholders, external partners, architects, engineers, and construction contractors to ensure project delivery aligns with the University’s strategic plan, including the Facilities Master Plan. Determines the scope of projects via collaboration with the COO and key university senior staff, and leads the Project Team on the development of project budgets, scope plan specifications, and bid documents. Works with the Project Team to keep the project on schedule and within budget.

EDUCATION: A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Construction Management, or other related field, from an accredited college or university is required.  Master’s degree is preferred.

EXPERIENCE: Approximately 10 to 15 years of experience in large scale project management, real estate management or facility management. Demonstrated ability to create and manage a successful project budget and schedule. Ability to effectively communicate to build and maintain effective relationships with other departments, staff, faculty, students and public as required. Working knowledge of DCA, OSHA, EPA, and NJDEP regulations as they relate to the areas of responsibility. Familiarity with advanced cloud-based solutions to provide dashboards and pertinent real estate information to the University’s senior leadership team
