Department Overview
The Orientation and Transition Programs office at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire a Student Services Coordinator working with Mentoring and Transition Programs. The office of Orientation and Transition Programs is a department within the Division of Student Affairs and provides new students, continuing students, and family members with the tools necessary to make a smooth transition to UNT and toward graduation. Specifically, this position will serve as coordinator to mentoring programs and transition program initiatives for new and continuing students.

This position is responsible for providing leadership to mentoring and transition programs by way of developing learning opportunities for continuing students, assisting with the coordination of UNT's First Flight Week welcome program, providing leadership to mentoring initiatives on campus, coordinating the ACCESS mentoring program, facilitating the campus-wide Centralized Peer Mentor Training program, and helping propel the office to be the primary mentoring resource hub on campus. In addition, the Student Service Coordinator is responsible for hiring, selecting, and training peer mentors and First Flight welcome week peer leaders, and recruiting faculty and staff mentors to pair with students in the ACCESS Mentoring Program. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Transition Programs.

Job Description
The Student Affairs Department at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire a Student Services Coordinator for mentoring and transition programs to join our team. Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

* Provide leadership and is responsible for the implementation of all aspects of the ACCESS mentoring program, including mentor and mentee recruitment, developing engagement activities for program participants, and facilitating program assessments related to retention.
* Develop and maintain lesson plans for mentoring conversations that are both timely and relevant to the student experience during the first year of college.
* Maintain relevant curriculum for the Centralized Peer Mentor Training program and facilitate training sessions for peer mentors across campus.
* Assist with the coordination of First Flight Week, UNT's mandatory welcome week program for new students, specifically with the engagement of commuter students during the week.
* Assist with the creation of transition program strategies for sophomores, juniors, seniors and graduate students that supports a successful transition to and through college for a diverse student population.
* Partner with the Center for Leadership and Service to organize the Emerging Leaders Series targeting freshman and sophomore leadership development
* Lead the Rise Against Hunger fundraising initiatives in partnership with the Center for Leadership & Service and Dining Services, and serve as the Rise Against Hunger Committee Chair.
* Serve as the advisor to the Rise Against Hunger Alternative Spring Break trip, attending the alternative service break trip as the staff advisor.
* Serve as the staff advisor for Mortar Board, a national honor society recognizing college seniors for scholarship, service, and leadership.
* Manage and maintain the ACCESS Mentoring/Emerald Eagle Scholar Suite alongside the Coordinator for the Emerald Eagle Scholars program.
* Develop and maintain cooperative relationships with academic and other university departments and offices.
* Responsible for the hiring, training, and supervision of 16 peer mentors in the ACCESS mentoring program, and serving as a mentor to their development.
* Responsible for the selection, hiring and training of 25 First Flight Leaders working with commuter student groups during the campus welcome week program for new students.
* Hire a graduate assistant to provide support to mentoring and transition program initiatives during the academic year.
* Establish learning outcomes for all programs, and actively contribute to the department's assessment plan by completing program evaluations and executive summaries.
* Responsible for updating publications advertising program services to the campus community, and maintaining appropriate branding standards for all program advertisements, promotional items, and social media posts.
* Perform other related duties as assigned by the Assistant Director.
* Evening and weekend work will be required during summer months and special programs.

Minimum Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess the following required qualifications:

Master's Degree in related field and two years of student services, student affairs, counseling, advising, or related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

* Excellent public speaking skills with experience in conducting training workshops.
* Ability to provide leadership and mentoring to student populations.
* Experience in networking across departments and programs.
* Demonstrated commitment to diversity.
* Strong organizational skills and ability to simultaneously execute multiple projects.
* Excellent verbal and written communication, and computer skills.
* Some experience in customer service is preferred.
