The Vice Provost position reports to the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost and assists with all matters of academic administration, policy, and planning and leads campus-wide initiatives at the direction of the Provost. The next Vice Provost for Academic Affairs will be an energetic and enthusiastic academic leader, with a successful record of administrative leadership in higher education and thorough understanding of the programs that comprise a large public research university. The Vice Provost should possess the ability to work collegially and respond effectively to all constituents of the University of Georgia, and be a principled advocate for the institution’s tripartite mission, “to teach, to serve, and to inquire into the nature of things.” The Vice Provost should have a deep commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
The Vice Provost works closely with a wide range of university constituents and reporting agencies, acting on behalf of the Provost when the Provost is unavailable. Additionally, the Vice Provost advises the Provost on a number of key academic appointments and appeals processes, faculty development, promotion and tenure, retention, and related issues.
This position is open to current UGA faculty only.
Additional RequirementsThe successful candidate must be a tenured faculty member at the associate or full professor level.
