Trinity in Washington, a comprehensive university in the nation’s capital, invites applications for the position of Director of Career Development.  Trinity seeks an experienced career services leader to create and implement a new service model that will effectively integrate career development programming with academic advising and service to Trinity graduates as well.

The Director of Career Development is specifically responsible for educating students about career development, cultivating employer relationships and organizing activities to connect students and employers, engaging with the faculty and academic advisors to develop their knowledge bases about career pathways and employment opportunities, supporting Trinity’s extensive use of internships and experiential learning opportunities as part of the platform for career development, providing career services assistance to Trinity graduates as well as leveraging their professional connections for student engagement, conducting assessments of the effectiveness of Trinity’s career services programs and activities to ensure continuous improvement of outcomes.

Specific duties of the Director include developing a strategic plan for career services at Trinity; cultivating employer relationships; developing and maintaining Trinity’s database of employer partnerships and career opportunities, including managing the Simplicity database for specific job postings; maintaining the career services website; creating educational programs for students and graduates, as well as faculty and advisors; organizing job fairs, employer visits, employer-in-residence programs, career information sessions, mock interviews, and similar activities that promote career readiness and employer connections.

The Director of Career Development reports to the Provost and has close working relationships with the Associate Provost who leads assessment and data analytics, the academic deans and faculty, the Director of Academic Advising and the advisors, the Director of Academic Services and her team, the Vice President for Student Affairs and her team, and other professional leaders at Trinity.

Candidates must have a minimum of a master’s degree and at least five years of increasingly responsible experience in a collegiate career services office or comparable professional experience.  Excellence in writing and oral presentation essential.  Strong organizational talents, ability to multi-task, and team-building are all essential qualities.
