Overview

The Princeton University Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL), a world-leading fusion energy research center under contract with the U. S. Department of Energy (DOE), invites applications for Project Controls Specialists (PCS). The PSC provides support and assistance to PPPL’s Project Managers and teams in the planning and execution of assigned projects. The PCS applies and supports the use of sound project controls principles and practices by PPPL’s project teams that are essential to achieving expected project performance and outcomes.



Responsibilities

The PCS serves as a vital contributor assigned to PPPL’s project teams responsible for the application of project controls principles and associated Laboratory requirements as further described below:

  • Supports the development of project baseline deliverables including work breakdown structures, cost plans, resource loaded schedules and risk assessments
  • Coordinates the development of EVMS execution plans, when required
  • Engages and supports the Project Manager and project team in the effective use of these project management tools
  • Works closely with the project team and updates and maintains project schedules, cost plans and risk registers throughout the project life cycle
  • Assists in the analysis of variances and development of recovery plans and timely development and distribution of accurate progress reports
  • Provides data and assistance in special events such as project reviews and response to stakeholder data calls


Qualifications

B.S. degree in Engineering or ScienceMinimum of 10 years of experience in applying project controls in the successful completion of projectsExpert practitioner in use of the P6 Primavera project management software platformDemonstrated ability to multi-task and effectively apply project controls principles over diverse portfolio of projects and/or cost accountsStrong interpersonal and presentation skillsProvides data and information is support of special events such as project reviews and response to stakeholder data callsPreferred Qualifications:

Project Management Professional CertificationExperience at DOE research laboratory or in commercial nuclear power industry Knowledge and experience in working under DOE Order 413.B
