Job Description

POSITION TITLE: ASSISTANT, MULTIMEDIA TECHNOLOGY

STATUS: Part Time

DEPARTMENT: Instructional Media Services

DIVISION: Information Technology

CLASSIFICATION: Non-exempt

UNION: Support and Technical

REPORTS TO: Manager, Media Services

PLACEMENT: Support Staff Grade 6

MINIMUM PAY RATE $18.22 per hour

POSITION SUMMARY
Joliet Junior College has three campuses and three satellite centers with multimedia technology at all locations. The college recognizes the advantages of technology in our learning environments and embraces our instructors’ use of technology in the classroom. The Multimedia Technology Assistant will provide training, support and ensure the functionality of audio, visual, and multimedia technologies by traveling to all JJC locations. The position will assist with the delivery, set up and operation of AV equipment for live events on campus. Good judgment, initiative, and independent action will be expected as an all-campus multimedia representative of the IT division.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1.Ensure the functionality of audio, video, and multimedia technologies at all JJC locations.
2.Assist with the install, maintenance, and replacement of multimedia systems and equipment.
3.Provide technical support and training to faculty and staff for classroom AV and presentation technology.
4.Research and prepare recommendations on purchases and replacement of multimedia related equipment.
5.Serve as AV technician for live events, webinars and video conferencing.
6.Monitor and maintain firmware / software updates for all multimedia technology.
7.Assist with the daily reservation, distribution and setup of AV equipment;
8.Perform general office responsibilities, including phone, data entry and maintaining clean environment.
9.Perform related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1.High School Diploma or equivalent.
2.Knowledge of AV best practices and some recent work experience.
3.Vehicle to travel between JJC’s campuses/centers and a valid driver’s license.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1.CTS certification.
2.Experience with AV control systems.
3.Experience with Networked AV equipment.
4.Experience with Live AV setups.
5.Experience with permanent installation of AV equipment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
1.Equipment (75lbs. or less) will be lifted, hung or transported throughout campus.
2.Power tools will be used.
3.Office and classroom clean-up will require ability to kneel on floor and/or bend at waist.
4.Campus is large and employee will be expected to walk multiple miles within 8hr. shift.

WORKING CONDITIONS
1.Most duties performed indoors; some exterior AV setup/production may be required.
