The Lebanese American University (www.lau.edu.lb) invites applications and nominations for the position of Dean of Graduate Studies and Research. The Lebanese American University is a leading higher education institution in the Middle East operating on two campuses Beirut and Byblos and currently enrolling more than 8000 students including more than 700 graduate students.
The Office of Graduate Studies and Research is committed to facilitate a culture of excellence and integrity in graduate studies and research, foster a collaborative research environment, and support an atmosphere of operational, funding and ethical compliance at LAU. The Dean of Graduate Studies and Research shall lead the office, and give vision, leadership and support to graduate education and research at the University. He/she shall lead in strengthening the research culture at the University by developing effective research policies, and work closely with School Deans and the Provost, in developing and implementing new disciplinary and interdisciplinary graduate programs at the University. The Dean of Graduate Studies and Research reports to the Provost and serves as an Ex-Officio member on the University Graduate Council and the University Research Council, and as a Voting member on the Council of Deans.
The successful candidate should have a commitment to high quality research and graduate education; a record of teaching and mentoring graduate students; experience in forging collaborative relationships at the level of the university and with external entities; Knowledge and experience in securing external funding; ability to operate in a shared governance environment; and experience in academic and research administration, with credentials appropriate for a tenured appointment at the rank of professor.
