Job Description:
BASIC FUNCTION - Under the direction of Dean of Student Services, the Director of Student Support Programs is responsible for providing leadership in the ongoing development, implementation, and assessment of categorical and other support programs at Woodland Community College. The College is implementing an Educational Master Planning and this position plays a key role in supporting this plan. Essential functions will include general program management, coordinating the inclusion of special programs, annual College Action Plans, submitting program reviews, and ensuring special program inclusion in the College Student Equity Plan. The Director of Student Support Programs is also responsible for the development of procedures and policies to increase the effectiveness of the College's Student Services area and ensure student needs are met. The Director of Student Support Programs is responsible for supervising staff and faculty and oversee the day-to-day and programmatic areas of EOPS/CARE, CalWORKs, Department of Supportive Programs and Services (DSPS), the Food Pantry, Student Health Services, S.T.A.Y. Well Center, Veterans Resource Center (VRC), and other duties as assigned. As there is oversight of faculty, this is an academic supervisory position.

REQUIRED DIRECTOR OF STUDENT SUPPORT PROGRAMS LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES:

Deep Commitment to Student Access and Success: Under the direction of the College Vice President and the Dean of Student Services, the Director of Special Programs is responsible for improving the quality of life and the economic well-being of our citizens and communities by providing access to a quality learning environment and fostering high levels of access and success for all students.

Willingness to Take Significant Risks to Advance Student Success: Under the direction of the Dean of Student Services, the Director of Special Programs will connect the institutional strategy of driving student access and success with the operations of the Student Services and Instructional units.

The Ability to Create Lasting Change within the College: Under the direction of the Dean of Student Services, the Director of Special Programs will be committed to identifying gaps in student outcomes on the basis of factors such as race, ethnicity and gender, and then mobilize the College to improve results.

Strategic Vision for the College and Its Students, Reflected in External Partnerships: Under the direction of the Dean of Student Services, the Director of Special Programs will leverage the institution's influence and resources to pave the way for ongoing student access and success by forging partnerships with outside entities, including K-12 school districts, four-year colleges, community-based organizations and employers.

Raise and Allocate Resources in Ways Aligned to Student Success: Under the direction of the Dean of Student Services, the Director of Special Programs will develop resources to achieve significantly improved student outcomes by implementing well-designed institutional changes at scale, and ensuring they are embedded for the long term.

Essential Duties Summary:
• Administer student support programs
• Coordinate and work closely with instructional and resource faculty related to accommodations for students
• Recruitment and outreach for special programs
• Facilitate development of guided pathway plans
• With the student services leadership team, develop and update yearly calendar to align with student services needs
• Implement and evaluate program work plans
• Keep abreast of emerging services, methodologies, and technologies relevant to unit
• Ensure that all Student Services programs are meeting State and Federal regulations
• Coordinate and prepare timely and accurate reports required by various federal, state, District and College departments
• Assist in the preparation and administration of annual program budgets; maintain program budget and records of expenditures when assigned; provide input and recommendations regarding staffing, equipment and supply
• Serve on appropriate committees
• Other duties as assigned and needed to support the administration of student services programs

Required Qualifications:
The minimum qualifications for service as an educational administrator shall be both of the following:
(a) Possession of a master’s degree;
and
(b) One year of formal training, internship, or leadership experience reasonably related to the administrator’s assignment.
PLUS
The designated coordinator or director must meet the minimum qualifications for a DSPS counselor or instructor or meet the minimum qualifications for an educational administrator; in addition, have two (2) years full-time experience or the equivalent within the last four (4) years in one or more of the following fields:
instruction or counseling or both in a higher education program for students with disabilities; administration of a program for students with disabilities in an institution of higher education; teaching, counseling, or administration in secondary education working predominantly or exclusively in programs for students with disabilities; or administrative or supervisory experience in industry, government, public agencies, the military, or private social welfare organizations, in which the responsibilities of the position were predominately or exclusively related to persons with disabilities.
AND
An EOPS Director must have two years of experience or the equivalent: in the management or administration of educational programs, community organizations, government programs or private industry in which the applicant dealt predominantly with ethnic minorities or persons handicapped by language, social or economic disadvantages or; as a community college EOPS counselor or EOPS instructor, or have comparable experience in working with disadvantaged clientele; in adition, an EOPS director shall have completed a minimum of six units of college-level coursework predominately relating to ethnic minorities or persons handicapped by educational, language, or social disadvantages.
INCLUDING
• Supervisory experience (formal or informal) in a community college setting
• Experience and knowledge working with diverse student populations delivering equity-minded programming
• Working knowledge and experience in oversight of students with disabilities and assigning appropriate accommodations
• Knowledge of ADA and Section 504
• Knowledge of community college policies and procedures
• Ability to communicate both orally and in writing to diverse populations
• Knowledge of relationship building techniques
• Understand enrollment and retention as it relates to the community college mission
• Knowledge of student information and computer systems (Web browsers, Microsoft Office Suite, etc.)
• Ability to create and analyze data and spreadsheets
• Considerable knowledge of regulations and laws related to retention and release of confidential data. Position requires local travel and occasional weekend hours.

Desired/Preferred Qualifications:
• Three or more years of increasing experience working with special programs in a supervisory capacity
• Prior experience working with college students
• Experience developing leadership programs
• Bilingual ability is preferred
• Knowledge of enrollment and retention practices
• Previous experience in a community college
• Knowledge and/or experience with equity programming

Range/Step: Range 33, Management Salary Schedule

Salary Range: $87,242 - $117,484 Per Year

Benefits Information:
BENEFITS/SALARY: The District offers a comprehensive benefits package for employees and dependent(s), for positions whose FTE is .60 or higher, valued at over $24,000 annually. The package includes health, dental, vision, two (2) life insurance policies and an Employee Assistance program. Additional benefits include contributions to the State Teacher’s Retirement System (STRS), 457/403b options, 12 sick days, 22 vacation days, 223 day/12 month contract.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS: Employment is dependent upon Department of Justice (DOJ) clearance; all fees are the responsibility of the selected candidates and serves the purpose of obtaining a criminal history as authorized by the California Education Code. WORKING CONDITIONS: In accordance to Board Policy, smoking is restricted in many areas of the Yuba Community College District. Woodland Community College is a tobacco free campus.
