Specific areas of research include experimental aeroacoustics, flow control and advanced flow diagnostics.
Duties include leading 2-3 projects simultaneously, supporting other graduate student level projects, and maintaining laboratory facilities.
The successful candidate is also expected to participate in mentoring graduate and undergraduate students in research, support departmental research activities, and work closely with other faculty members in writing grant proposals for securing external funding.Qualifications A Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is required along with at least one year of post-doctoral research experience.
Required experience includes research in experimental fluid mechanics and aeroacoustics; implementing flow measurement techniques, such as Stereoscopic- and Tomographic - Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV), Particle Tracking Velocimetry, Schlieren, beamforming; and experience operating high speed wind tunnel facilities.
Good knowledge of Computational-Fluid-Dynamics (CFD) and use of commercial software (e.g. ANSYS FLUENT).
Programming experience in Matlab and LabVIEW is required, along with a working knowledge of signal processing, image processing, and Computer-Aided-Design (CAD) using SolidWorks.Other Information Desirable experience includes grant proposal writing, project management, working as part of interdisciplinary teams, as well as mentoring graduate and undergraduate students.Contact Info Dr. Louis Cattafesta, [email protected] Information The FAMU-FSU College of Engineering is the unique combination of two outstanding universities with overlapping but distinct missions - the nation's top Historically Black College/University with a Tier-1 research university.
