Associate Vice President, Enterprise Applications

Pennsylvania State University is in the process of transforming the delivery and management of information technology services across its 23 campuses in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and is seeking applications and nominations for the new position of Associate Vice President, Enterprise Applications.

ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW

Michael Kubit, the university’s Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer, has crafted a vision known as Reimagining IT at Penn State to harness the skills and talents of IT staff to deliver excellence across the institution.  During the last several months, Penn State IT has migrated to Office 365 as the University’s email and calendaring tool and consolidated firewalls for optimal protection of the University’s data and research.  Penn State IT is a service organization, dedicated to serving the needs of students, faculty, and staff members through responsive service and support, enabling infrastructure, effective administrative systems, and strategic innovation.

As part of IT’s transformation, Penn State wants to develop and to support 21st century business systems and practices. To this end, accountabilities and responsibilities for enterprise applications will move from the CFO and Provost functions into Penn State IT. To facilitate this transition, Vice President for IT and Chief Information Officer has created the position of Associate Vice President, Enterprise Applications. The institution seeks a highly motivated leader with exceptional strategic, operational, entrepreneurial, technical, and interpersonal skills to assume this position. Penn State has three major ERP systems: Student Records on PeopleSoft (went live in early 2016); Human Resources on Workday (went live in late 2017); and Enterprise Finance on SAP will go-live in 2020. The successful candidate will manage a $15-million operating budget and a team of over 55 individuals and will be charged to cast a strategy to optimize and to rationalize enterprise applications at Penn State.
