Stanford Pre-Collegiate Studies (SPCS) is the home of academic programs, both residential and online, that advance the education of academically talented, intellectually curious, pre-college students. Since our founding, we have hosted thousands of students in our online, commuter, and summer residential programs. The offerings of SPCS include a diverse array of academic enrichment programs that take place on the Stanford campus during the summer as well as during the academic year.

We are seeking a Diversity, Outreach and STEM Programs Coordinator to join our team. The Programs Coordinator will report to the Director of Diversity, Outreach and STEM Programs and serve as the lead coordinator for our outreach programs, which seek to inspire and empower our next generation of leaders in STEM. These programs include Stanford's Medical Youth Science Program, AI4ALL, Mathematics Camp, after school enrichment circles, and our newest program YouCubed. As the lead coordinator for these programs, you will have the opportunity to enhance and apply your project management skills to oversee the successful delivery of all program aspects: outreach, recruitment, applicant advising, admissions, on-boarding, program delivery, and logistics. Your interest in collaborative project management, and support and mentoring of students from underrepresented backgrounds, are a strong alignment for this role.

**Please note that Stanford Pre-Collegiate Studies will move to Stanford's new Redwood City Campus in 2019**

Your responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with our team to plan, develop and implement academic enrichment programs for elementary, middle and high school students, held on Stanford's main campus during the summer and academic school year.
  • Plan and organize events on campus, such as our Student Visit Days, College Advising Workshops, and open-learning festivals.
  • Collaborate with our team to oversee program admissions cycles, includes testing and launching online applications, communicating with potential students and parents, representing SPCS at conferences and outreach events, and serving as a resource to application readers.
  • Working closely with SPCS support teams, including Operations, IT, Finance, HR, and Residential Education, to coordinate and ensure successful delivery of all program components.
  • Provide support for instructors to ensure that they have supplies, teaching assistants and classroom venues that meet their needs. Develop, distribute and summarize student exit surveys and assist with the development of enhanced assessment methods.
  • As a member of the hiring team for the SMYSP residential summer staff, manage the residential staff interview and selection process. Train and supervise volunteers, student and temporary workers and other contingent employees.
  • Supervise temporary staff during peak periods, such as summer.

    To be successful in this position, you will bring:
  • A Bachelor's degree and two years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Demonstrated project management experience and the ability to collaborate effectively with a range of internal and external partners.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Enthusiasm for learning new technologies and software.
  • Ability to ensure and apply compliance with legal, financial, and university policies and external regulations.

    In addition, preferred requirements include:
  • Preference for intermediate to strong experience using Microsoft Excel.

    Physical Requirements:
  • Frequently sit, perform desk-based computer tasks.
  • Occasionally stand, walk, twist, use fine manipulation, grasp, use a telephone, write by hand, sort and file paperwork, lift, carry, push, and pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
