Job Details
The University of Denver's Learning Communities and Civic Engagement (LCCE) Department has an opening for a full-time position of Community Relations Coordinator for the Pioneer Leadership Program (PLP). PLP is an undergraduate Living and Learning Community (LLC) accepting 88 incoming first- year students each year, which leads to a 24-credit minor in Leadership Studies. The program spans the four-year undergraduate experience with close to 350 students overall.
This position manages recruitment, student career development, alumni engagement, and external relations for the Pioneer Leadership Program. This position reports directly to the Director of the Pioneer Leadership Program, who is also the Exec. Director of the Learning Communities and Civic Engagement department.
Essential Functions
- Student Recruitment: Coordinate marketing, recruitment, and selection of PLP students. Duties will include: coordination with Admission Office to communicate in a successful, effective manner across the country; maintain and update website and collateral communication pieces; develop and maintain effective branding and positioning by creating opportunities for more exposure; build a strong presence and experience for prospective and incoming students; communication with high school guidance counselors; manage social media to market and enhance the exposure of the program.
- Student Civic Engagement and Career Development: Expand and maintain existing Serve to Lead partnerships with local non-profits for service learning and volunteer placements; conduct orientation and support services to build the student experience in the community; coordinate evaluation and assessment strategies for yearly partnership reviews, including site visitations with students and supervisors.
- Develop and maintain a career development program in tandem with DU's Career and Professional Development office to create a strong career pathway program for PLP students particularly in the 3rd to 4th years; increase student exposure to working professionals in diverse fields to nurture current students' external opportunities including: internships, mentorships, networking, job shadowing, training events, connections to PLP and DU alumni network, and overall access to opportunities in the city of Denver.
- Alumni Engagement: Build and support the PLP Alumni Board and participate in monthly meetings; alumni event management including creating the marketing, communication, and event action plan. Create opportunities, find ways to engage, and improve relationships with out of state alumni, including travel to high density regions of PLP alumni, coordinating with DU's Global Networks office Incorporate new ways for alumni to develop as professionals, including trainings, workshops, and other career development opportunities.
- External Relations and Development: Nurture a culture of philanthropy with students, alumni and friends by drawing intentional connections between donors to the program and the student experience. Collaboratively build a strategic process of stewardship to solicit, maintain and increase generosity toward the PLP program. This will include identifing, cultivating and soliciting philanthropic support with PLP alumni, parents, friends and potential friends of the program. Coordinate virtual and on-site opportunities for alumni, parents and students to be engaged and give financially to the program.
- Administrative/Office Management: Develop and maintain assigned PLP budget and data systems related to students, alumni and donors using the Banner system; maintain personal email, calendaring and purchasing card system; work with PLP Program Coordinator to synchronize recruitment, admission, civic engagement and career oriented programming for students.

Salary Range:
