Description

The School of Nursing at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) seeks applications for a part-time pediatric nurse practitioner lecturer position.

Candidates must have the following qualifications: 1) licensure (or eligibility for licensure) as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner in California, 2) national certification as an Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, 3) Pediatric Advance Life Support provider certification, 5) a minimum of at least three years of clinical work experience as a PNP in acute care, 4) experience in teaching/mentoring preferred; and 5) outstanding record of professional or community service.

Candidates should have a good understanding of the academic process and the University setting along with the ability to establish excellent working relationships with other faculty, students, and preceptors. The position may require traveling to clinical sites within the greater Southern California community. Salary is commensurate with background and experience. Responsibilities include: 1) prepare/present lectures and provide clinical instruction to advanced practice (nurse practitioner or clinical nurse specialist) students in theory and/or clinical courses, in accordance with the curriculum; 2) construct, administer, grade and file appropriate student evaluations and final grades; 3) instruct students in skills labs and physical assessment labs as needed; 4) identify clinical training sites and provide feedback to the Program Director for Advanced Practice Programs and the Associate Dean for Academic & Student Affairs regarding the fit of clinical sites to student learning; 5) provide student counseling and mentorship as needed, in conjunction with the Director of Student Affairs 6) participate in Program Meetings and School of Nursing committee as needed, and 7) function effectively as part of teaching teams.
