The Director of Advancement Operations, under moderate supervision and with latitude for independent judgment, oversees and manages processing of contributed revenue, office operations, Institutional Advancement budgets, and all information systems and structures, including but not limited to The Raiser's Edge. The Director also manages the Advancement Operations staff.

Position Duties:
  • Develop, implement, and maintain information management strategic plan.
  • Oversee the administration, management, upgrade, and backup of The Raiser's Edge database.
  • Manage planning and generation of advanced fundraising reports using Raiser's Edge, Crystal Reports, and MS Office.
  • Compile, index, and analyze Advancement data from gifts, appeals, proposals, prospect screenings, and other data that may be queried from Raiser's Edge, ResearchPoint, and Colleague databases.
  • Work in close coordination with the development staff to develop and assist with the execution of advanced appeal strategies, and provide ongoing, dynamic tracking reports.
  • Manage the establishment and maintenance of standard suites of data reports and dashboards for each Institutional Advancement department using Raiser's Edge, Crystal Reports, and MS office.
  • Ensure appropriate controls over financial information by approving reconciliation prepared by Budget and Operations Manager.
  • Manage the planning, implementation, and documentation of information management policies and procedures to ensure the use of best practices across the division.
  • Oversee processing of revenue and expenses for Institutional Advancement.
  • Finalize annual budget packet with Finance and Administration Manager, for review and approval by Vice President.
  • Set the standard for "best practice" policies in financial and operations administration.
  • Advise Finance and Administration in the preparation of annual audit, IRS Form 990, and other external reports as relevant to Institutional Advancement.
  • Oversee strategic decisions about space usage and office configurations.
  • Oversee training of new staff in relevant information systems, including Raiser's Edge database and relevant budget planning and tracking tools.
  • Oversee the establishment, implementation, and maintenance of comprehensive quality control processes for the Raiser's Edge database.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for Institutional Advancement for administrative processing of human resources related activities.
  • Plan and conduct custom training opportunities for staff in response to divisional needs.


Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred.

Experience: Five to seven years' experience in development operations, preferably in higher education. Data management, Raiser's Edge software experience, and budget management experience required.

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Must have excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Google Platform.
  • Expert understanding of Raiser Edge, Crystal Reports and other relational databases.
  • Strong project management and organization skills required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are required.

Pratt Institute is a coeducational, private, professional college offering associate, bachelor and master's degree programs in art and design, architecture and library science. The Institute has been educating professionals for productive careers in artistic and technical fields since its founding on its present site in Brooklyn in 1887 by the industrialist and philanthropist Charles Pratt. His revolutionary philosophy of education emphasized applied knowledge and the teaching of specific skills demanded by a growing industrial economy.

The Institute currently occupies 25 tree-filled acres in the landmark Clinton Hill section of Brooklyn-an historic residential district featuring turn-of-the-century brownstones, Victorian mansions and wide tree-canopied boulevards. Pratt is one of the largest undergraduate and graduate schools for art, design and architecture in the country and offers a wide range of cross discipline study options, dual degrees and major concentrations. The Institute's 25-acre campus contains twenty-four buildings, including landmark Romanesque and Renaissance Revival-style structures, clustered around spacious lawns and tree-canopied plazas. Sixteen buildings contain extensive studio, shop and technical facilities needed to support work in all media-from the traditional to the experimental. Five buildings are student residences. All have computer networking capacities and are Internet accessible. Computer labs, established with the most current equipment and the latest software, are available for instructional purposes and individual project use. Gallery space is extensive and the work of students, alumni, staff and other well-known artists is shown throughout the academic year. Pratt's Library, an historical landmark built in 1896, was the first fully automated academic library in the New York City area. Its art and architecture collection is excellent and contains approximately 208,000 volumes, 500 periodical and newspaper subscriptions, 66,000 slides, 190,000 pictures, 50,000 microforms, and 45,000 governmental documents.
