Assistant/Associate/Professor of Epidemiology

Job description

The Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) of the American University of Beirut ( located in Beirut, Lebanon, currently seeks for its Department of Epidemiology and Population Health (EPHD) a candidate with a doctoral degree in Epidemiology, for a tenure track position in the rank of assistant, associate or full professor, depending on qualifications. Visiting positions at all levels may be considered. In Fall 2018, the Department launched a doctoral program in Epidemiology and is in the process of developing a Master’s Program in Biostatistics. The Department offers an MS in Epidemiology and contributes to the FHS-wide MPH program and its concentration in Epidemiology and Biostatistics which are accredited by the US Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH).  It also contributes to teaching at the Faculty of Medicine. The Department welcomes applicants whose research, teaching, and practice align with the missions of FHS and EPHD:

The candidate should be prepared to contribute to:

  • teaching of basic and advanced Epidemiology courses to masters and doctoral level students at FHS and at the Faculty of Medicine,   
  • developing new doctoral level courses in Epidemiology,
  • mentoring MPH,  MS and PhD students on their integrative learning experience and thesis,
  • outreach programs at the Faculty and participating in professional service.

Candidates should demonstrate a strong record of research and a record of teaching graduate courses.

Expertise in methodology and having a specialized area of interest such as infectious epidemiology or cancer epidemiology are desirable as well as teaching post graduate courses.
