Develops a value analysis process for products, services, equipment, and technology to support the alignment of system objectives, strategic goals, and control of system spend. Recruits, supervises, trains, and mentors talent and prepares performance reports. Acts as department expert and advises leadership team on value analysis related matters. Serves as a liaison between department, internal customers, and vendors to communicate and resolve issues, including product conversions, inventory control practices, contract management, and vendor support. Ensures internal control oversight and compliance with laws and regulations, safeguarding of assets, compliance with University policies and procedures, reliability of internal and external reporting, and efficiency and effectiveness of operations. Creates an effective control environment, conducts risk assessment, implements and monitors controls.

Value Analysis Process

Oversees all Value Analysis Committees and teams for supplies and services, including leading and facilitating the New Product Request Team. Manages Supply Chain Services Value Analysis Managers and team. Identifies savings opportunities to meet organizational savings targets. Develops Value Analysis strategy, Value Analysis Savings Targets, and associated annual budget in conjunction with Value Analysis Chairs as well as Supply Chain Services leadership. Frequently monitors target project completion dates and implemented savings by Value Analysis Committee, Primary Lead, Project Status, and by Initiative to ensure annual Value Analysis savings and outcomes goals are achieved. Directs product/service introduction, investigation, analysis, education, conversion, issues, and tracking projected outcomes. Optimizes group purchasing organization contract portfolio. Facilitates relationships with physicians, key stakeholders, and executives to optimize the value for the University of Miami related to value analysis initiatives (supplies and purchased services). Establishes performance improvement initiatives that are collaborative, and results driven. Maintains Standard Operating Procedure (“SOP”) manual for the value analysis process. Identifies supply and service standardization and utilization opportunities. Collaborates with Finance colleagues in determining impact of product/service selections on revenue. Collaborates with the Value Analysis Senior Executive Advisory Committee, key stakeholders, executives, risk committee, finance, legal, IT, and other department leaders to review and implement initiatives. Identifies, implements, and communicates initiative progress across all Value Analysis Committees with senior leadership. Develops recommended solutions for potential Value Analysis barriers. Keeps current on technology, regulatory and operational trends in the health care, academic industry and value analysis strategies which may impact product/service utilization or Value Analysis processes. Maintains confidentiality of patient and financial information.

Leadership

Provides strategic thinking and direction in collaboration with colleagues to establish a leading practice value analysis model. Provides the tactical abilities to implement leading supply chain practices for value analysis. Communicates positively about the Value Analysis process internally and externally to elevate and grow the Value Analysis program. Significantly contributes to the establishment of annual Value Analysis goals.  Develops and monitors performance measures to track Value Analysis progress versus goal by Value Analysis Committee, by Primary and Secondary Lead, etc. Provides an environment of positive and open communication with all colleagues. Demonstrates evidence of an effective    process that utilizes feedback, suggestions and participation to continually improve processes.  Engenders trust and accountability with colleagues. Responsible for continuous process improvement including but not limited to leading Value Analysis teams to identify, assess, plan, implement and monitor progress.  Proactively coach Value Analysis Committees and Senior Executive Advisory Committee on methods and approaches to achieve goals via collaboration, project planning, project management, and communication. Builds, coaches, develops and retains qualified, competent staff based on current and projected workload. Promotes continuous self-improvement of staff for optimal performance and potential advancement. Responsible for hiring, orienting, disciplining and terminating staff. Ensures appropriate staffing levels, assignments and empowerment to insure optimal utilization of human resource talent and resources. Maintains job descriptions and educates staff on expectations.  Ensures staff meets all requirements of their positions. Maintains value analysis training and education programs for new and existing employees. Completes annual performance appraisals and development plans in a complete and timely manner. Demonstrates the ability to read the organization and to maneuver through complex political situations effectively, identifying potential resolutions and not just the problem at hand. Develops and maintains professional working relationships.  Utilizes networking and teambuilding skills to accomplish goals and meet customer and team needs. Ensures legal, ethical and financial parameters are being adhered to.  Seeks direction when necessary. Responsible for participating in the preparation of the operating and capital budget for the Supply Chain Value Analysis program (supplies and services) and oversees the execution of same.

Professional Development

Attends and participates in classes, seminars, workshops, conferences and other continuing education, as appropriate, to maintain and enhance professional knowledge and/or skills. Freely shares knowledge and information to assist in educating and training colleagues both new and existing. Represents the University of Miami as appropriate and participates in professional organizations and activities to accomplish supply chain objectives and to establish networks and resources.
