Job Summary
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses that may include undergraduate choral
literature, secondary methods, supervising student teaching and other field work; mentoring and advising graduate research; actively publish and present research; help with curriculum development and serve in university shared governance; work with applied teachers, ensemble directors, and admissions in recruitment and retention efforts. There may be the opportunity to conduct a choral ensemble for interested and qualified candidates. The candidate’s performance must result in high-quality student-teacher preparation.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Music Education
  2. Supervise student teaching and other field work
  3. Mentoring and advising graduate research
  4. Actively publish and present research
  5. Help with curriculum development and serve in university shared governance.
  6. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Ph.D. in Music Education or DMA in combination with appropriate experience and/or credentials; ABD considered if graduating by May 2019; minimum three years of successful K-12 music teaching experience; documented research activity.

Preferred Qualifications Record of leadership in areas of recruitment, community partnerships, and curriculum development; dedication to student preparation; college teaching experience.
