To provide support to the Veterans Advisor by providing information about benefits and other college resources to current and potential students, performing general administrative tasks, promoting and assisting in activities in the Veteran Center, and acting as the official Disability Service Liaison between Disability Services and Veteran Services.

Reports To Susan Serge Education/Qualifications

•Good Conduct and Academic Standing with the college
•Gillette College Student currently enrolled
•Cumulative GPA is 2.0 or greater

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

•Knowledge of FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) and basic understanding of HIPPA
•General knowledge of Veteran Education programs (GI Bill, state and local)
•2nd semester or greater, full-time student veteran
•DSL training to include training on ADA laws
•Working knowledge of computer programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Colleague)
•Self-motivated and dependable
•Time management and organizational skills

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

•Moderate periods of sitting and standing; some lifting may be required
•Schedule will be determined by staff. Hours will be during M-F between 8-5 unless otherwise specified in the staff schedule

•Promotes a friendly and welcoming environment for the Veteran Center for current and potential students
•Provides and maintains general information for education benefits as well as college resources
•Assists in scheduling appointments, document scanning, maintaining and filing student records
•Acts in the official capacity as the Disability Service Liaison
•Creates, assists, and promotes activities in the Veteran Center
•Performs other duties as assigned
•Engages in on-going training with Disability Services, DSL trainings, and other pertinent trainings
