Department Overview
The Department of Medical Education provides educational support services to TCOM and to other health science center programs. Faculty and staff in the department schedule medical school classes, coordinate the scheduling of all other classes, support curriculum development activities in the medical school, conduct faculty development programs designed for relevant professional development of all faculty, and contribute to educational research.

Medical Education assists with basic science and clinical science faculty review, and provides staff support to the Curriculum Committee and course director groups that carry out the improvement and development of our osteopathic curriculum.

This position will be primarily involve undergraduate medical education and will be involved in training, mentoring and guidance of the students in the Rural Osteopathic Medical Education (ROME) program as well as the general TCOM student population.

Position Details
The Academic Affairs-TCOM Department at the University of North Texas Health Science Center is seeking to hire an Assistant/Associate Professor for Medical Education to join our team.

Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:

* Teaching duties for the ROME program in Year 1 and Year 2
* Student advising, supervision, education, and mentoring within the ROME program
* ROME administrative tasks in curriculum preparation for Year 1 and Year 2
* Ambulatory patient care and teaching at MERCY Clinic of Ft Worth 2 to 3 days per week
* Research and academic scholarly activity encouraged with protected academic time
* Participation in faculty development in the Academy of Medical Educators
* Participation in the College Advisory Program at TCOM with concomitant duties in student academic advising, career advising, residency counseling and help in preparation of the MSPE for residency application
* Participation in Simulation Lab teaching in skills and ultrasound

Required Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess the following required qualifications:

* DO or MD degree with at least 5 years experience in medical education training students or residents.
* Must have current unrestricted Texas Medical license and AOA or ABMS Board Certification (Family Medicine preferred)

Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:

* Bilingual Spanish/English or other foreign language is a plus
