Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream - Pediatric Dentistry

Job FieldThe Faculty of Dentistry, University of Toronto, invites applications for a full-time teaching stream position in Pediatric Dentistry. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream and will begin January 1, 2020 or shortly thereafter.

The applicant must have a DDS/DMD/BDS degree and a Masters or PhD degree in a field related to pediatric dentistry at the time of appointment. The candidate must have successfully completed specialty training in Pediatric Dentistry in a program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of Canada or the Commission on Dental Accreditation in the United States, or a non-accredited program that enables the candidate to be eligible for qualification through a Dental Specialty Assessment and Training Program. Applicants must be eligible for or have obtained licensure in Ontario as a recognized specialist in Pediatric Dentistry. The candidate must have appropriate clinical experience in Pediatric Dentistry.

Teaching excellence is required as evidenced by a strong teaching statement and strong letters of reference, as well as the demonstrated ability to teach at both the undergraduate and graduate program level as evidenced in the materials submitted for review as part of the application. Additionally, candidates must possess a demonstrated commitment to excellent pedagogical practice and a demonstrated interest in teaching-related scholarly activities.

Evidence of excellence in teaching and pedagogical inquiry can be demonstrated through teaching accomplishments, awards and accolades, presentations at significant conferences, the teaching dossier submitted as part of the application including a strong teaching statement, sample syllabi, course materials, and teaching evaluations, or other evidence of superior performance in teaching-related activities submitted as part of the application, as well as strong letters of reference from referees of high standing. Other teaching-related activities can include performance as a teaching assistant or course instructor, experience leading successful workshops or seminars, student mentorship, or excellent conference presentations or posters.

The candidate is expected to contribute to both the undergraduate and graduate programs in Pediatric Dentistry at the Faculty of Dentistry.
