Basic Function

This position will oversee the student billing and loan processing functions of the College. This includes providing supervision and back-up of the Director of Student Accounts Billing, as well as performing the duties of processing and collections of campus-based student loans and past due student accounts.

Duties and Responsibilities

•Oversee student billing and student loan processing functions.
•Supervise and serve as primary backup to the Director of Student Accounts Billing in all areas of responsibility.
•Process all documentation for Perkins Loan program and institutional loan programs.
•Coordinate transition of billing for students leaving school with a student accounts balance due.
•Maintain all student loan files and promissory note files for Perkins Loan Program and institutional loan programs.
•Process monthly information from loan processor.
•Prepare information for the Perkins portion of the FISAP.
•Responsible for maintaining all collections with a high volume of phone calls, letters, and email communication for past due accounts.
•Document daily and monthly collections activity while utilizing effective customer service skills.
•Responsible for running and analyzing monthly A/R reports.
•Answer questions and resolve issues from students/loan processor/collection agencies regarding all student loan and past due A/R issues.
•Counsel students regarding consolidation of existing loans, deferments, cancellations, and other issues as needed utilizing excellent customer service skills.
•Process student loan exit packages for withdrawals and graduates.
•Work with external collection agencies on defaulted accounts after all internal efforts have been exhausted.
•Complete and submit consolidation paperwork requested for Perkins loans within required timeframe.
•Pull monthly reports from loan servicer, post accounting entries, and reconcile loan bank statement.
•Assist with fiscal year-end audit and information for financial statements.
•Other responsibilities as designated by Associate Controller and Associate VP for Finance.

Minimum Qualifications

College degree required. Prefer five years’ experience with relevant student accounts or student loans. Supervisory experience required. Experience working with a student loan processor helpful (ECSI preferred). Must have experience with automated accounting system (Banner preferred) and excellent computer skills especially with Microsoft Office (Excel and Word). The ability to produce timely, accurate, and relevant information. Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem solving skills along with attention to details. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with excellent customer service.
