The University of Puget Sound invites applications for an Admission CounselorThe Admission Counselor serves as a representative of University of Puget Sound engaging prospective students and their families in the enrollment process including outreach, recruitment, admission and enrollment. As a member of the Admission team, this position plays a critical role in supporting and advancing efforts to meet University enrollment goals.Using a territory management model, the Admission Counselor is responsible for reviewing and assessing applications, making thoughtful admission decisions, and implementing recruitment and yield strategies that enroll students who will contribute to an academically rigorous and inclusive campus community.This Admission Counselors will also support project work in addition to their role as a territory manager. The Office of Admission executes extensive communication strategies including print publications, electronic communications, digital strategies, social media and web delivered content. The Admission Counselor will develop content for electronic and web related communications, execute campaigns in Slate (CRM), review analytics and recommend communication strategies. Qualifications dependent, the Admission Counselor may be responsible for some graphic design.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

    Represent the University to prospective students and families from diverse backgrounds, communicating an in-depth knowledge of the university's mission, academic and co-curricular programs throughout the recruitment process. As a territory manager, represent the University at recruitment functions including high school visits, college fairs, and community events. Travel will consist of approximately 8-12 weeks, including evening and weekend commitments, concentrated in the fall and spring Manage a recruitment territory, including maintaining historical records of travel, key school/alumni contacts, regional higher education trends, and outcomes. Engage prospective students in ongoing communication through face-to-face meetings, email, written correspondence, phone calls, texting and social media. Maintain a strong customer service orientation with timely responses to inquiries and questions. Serve as a liaison to connect prospective students with key university offices such as financial aid, housing, intercultural student center, academic departments, athletics, performing arts, etc. Review and evaluate undergraduate admissions applications and make admissions decisions based on students' ability to be successful at Puget Sound and on the university's strategic enrollment goals. Promote and participate in on-campus visit programs for prospective students. This will involve several weekend commitments throughout the year. Serve as an active member of the admissions team, contributing to the development and implementation of strategies to achieve the university's enrollment goals. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Commitment to the values of a liberal arts education
  • Excellent public speaking, interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Commitment to a diverse working environment and to cultivating a diverse campus community
  • Ability to work creatively and efficiently, both independently and as part of an engaged, caring, professional, and fun office
  • Ability to anticipate and embrace change; demonstrate a willingness to achieve, acquire, and utilize new skills and challenging tasks; and is flexible in changing conditions
  • Strong technological skills including mastery of the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to travel independently and extensively for 8-12 weeks annually

Desired Qualifications
  • Previous professional work experience in an Office of Admission or closely related field
  • Demonstrated experience working with diverse student populations
  • Experience working with a customer relationship management system (CRM). Preference will be given to candidates with experience using Slate
  • Ability to speak and/or write in a language other than English
  • Demonstrated marketing and communication experience including graphic design, content writing, digital marketing, website management; and/or social media management or influence
  • Demonstrated experience delivering customer service in an office setting

Compensation and Benefits: Decisions about starting salaries are made based on the extent and relatedness of the candidate's education and experience and on internal equity and market considerations.
This position is exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
