St. Norbert College, a nationally-ranked, Catholic, liberal arts college is seeking an Assistant Director for the innovative Cassandra Voss Center (CVC), a $2.8 million nationally recognized center for identity and inclusion. The Cassandra Voss Center is a focal point for education and awareness about identity, diversity, and gender among faculty, staff, and students at the College and beyond. The Assistant Director supports the mission and vision of the CVC and its professional and student staff by teaching in the Women’s and Gender Studies program and helping to  manage programmatic, administrative, and research tasks, chiefly: coordinating educational programs, training and supervising undergraduate student staff, facilitating building operation and administration, planning PR & Media, and collaborating with the College and local community. The CVC is a space for dialogue across difference, as modeled by its namesake Cassandra Voss in conversation with her father Kurt Voss. After Cassandra died in a car accident in 2007, Kurt Voss raised money to make this a transformative center, open to all. 

Responsibilities:

The Assistant Director collaborates with the Director and staff, as well as St. Norbert faculty, staff, students, and wider community to execute the Center educational programming and operations. The Assistant Director:

-Teaches in the Women’s and Gender Studies program

-Assists Director in strategic planning and development of Center mission, vision, and values.

-Collaborates with Director on programming. Manages speaker contracts and oversees delegation of programming logistics including venue, transportation, food, introduction, biographies, volunteers, and multimedia presentation.

-Recruits, hires, and manages undergraduate student staff including reviewing, mentoring, and evaluating staff including overseeing staff task lists, managing staff funding, and leading weekly staff meetings.

-Oversees building reservations, conducts tours, manages office administration including finances.

-Creates PR/Media by designing concepts, titles, descriptions, and a communications plan with help of student graphic designer. Manages social media, center website, and media requests.

-Presents locally and nationally on the work of the Cassandra Voss Center, with opportunity for creative work including workshop facilitation, grant writing, teaching, and scholarship/writing. 

Requirements:

-M.A. required, Ph.D. preferred in Women’s and Gender Studies and/or Identity Studies (LGBT, Race/Ethnic, etc).

-Experience teaching and scholarship in those fields with a preference for work in Masculinities Studies.

-Knowledge of how to train and guide staff, lead programs, do public speaking and facilitating, and have administrative skills.

-Excellent interpersonal communication and decision-making skills required.

-Strong organizational, leadership, group facilitation, and problem solving skills and interest in startup culture and innovation.

-A willingness to develop the Harry Brod Masculinities Archive and work on issues related to masculinity is preferred.
