This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, permanent (probationary) position.This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
The primary responsibility of this position is providing equipment and systems support for the College of Health and Human Services IT team in the School of Exercise and Nutritional Sciences. The incumbent will provide services for the faculty, staff and student in ENS and the Doctoral Program in Physical Therapy. Duties to include ensuring the availability, integrity, and reliability of approximately 100 faculty, staff, research lab, and teaching computer systems and computer peripherals within the School of Exercise and Nutritional Sciences campus-wide locations.
This position requires strong communication and customer support skills, the ability to learn quickly and proactively, as well as the skills necessary to ensure the reliability of computers and systems within the School of Exercise and Nutritional Sciences. Compensation and Benefits
Starting salary upon appointment not expected to exceed $3,795 per month. CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,388 - $6,548 per month. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.

To enter this classification, a basic foundation of knowledge and skills in technical systems and equipment is a prerequisite. This foundation would normally be obtained through an associate of arts degree in electronics, telecommunications, or industrial technology or equivalent education, training, and/or directly related experience. Foundation knowledge and skills for the Equipment Systems Specialist include a basic knowledge of electronic (digital or analog) theories, mechanical design, and understanding of the operation and use of the equipment and systems commonly utilized in the assigned area.
Preferred Qualifications and Specialized Skills
- Knowledge of information technology systems and/or applications, including multimedia, access procedures, networks and/or databases.
- Experience providing IT customer/user support in a large, complex organization such as a higher education, public agency, government, military or health care setting.
- Ability to develop and deliver technical training and user documentation.
- Bachelor’s Degree or work experience or a combination of four years of education and work experience in a related field.
- Experience with managing and maintaining inventory.
- Experience using a help desk ticketing system.
- Experience working with statistical and/or research applications and databases.
- Ability to learn quickly and maintain currency with the latest computing and information systems technologies, technical and vendor documentations.
