The Northern Virginia Community College Workforce Development Division is developing a series of new programs in industry sectors including information technology, cybersecurity, mechatronics and other technical areas.
As a curriculum writing team member you will have the challenge of developing curriculum used for short-term training programs offered at a local, regional and national level. Content will be delivered in-person as well as online. Curriculum writers will work under the supervision of the Apprenticeship Manager to develop industry-driven curriculum while also matching curriculum to measurable outcomes in the form of nationally recognized certification.

Duties and Responsibilities

Attend and participate in all related face-to-face and online team meetings of curriculum and program team • Participate in development of scope and sequence for the required curriculum • Participate in development and evaluation of new curriculum in support of new course’s to include lesson plans, worksheets, quizzes, support materials and assessments. • Participate in revisions in response to feedback from external clients and industry experts

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in Education or related field or equivalent experience. significant years in program development for the manufacturing sector or information technology sector.

Preferred Qualifications

• Expert experience in the electrical, mechanical or controls fields
or Expert experience writing curriculum in information technology, cybersecurity, programming (Java, Python), or other IT-related fields.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Experience in curriculum writing in higher education, training and development programs, state or national level organizations • Strong writing skills (written sample required) • Demonstrated ability to manage timelines and deliverables • Demonstrated ability to create curriculum that can be delivered online through an LMS platform, preferably Canvas • Ability to provide sample lesson plan they have written and implemented in the classroom

Please Note: These are part-time positions that will require some night and weekend work.
You DO NOT have to be based in Northern VA to be part of the team.

Please provide a sample lesson plan that is your original work. The lesson should include the objective to be delivered, a quiz for measurement of learning, and what textbook would be utilized.
