Lecturer - Continuing and Professional Education

The School of Education &Human Development will establish and maintain a pool of Lecturers from whichfuture appointments to temporary, part-time non-tenure-track positions in ourcontinuing and professional education (CPE) department will be made. Lecturersare limited to two courses per term. This will be a semester-by-semesterappointment, with the possibility of renewal. This temporary Lecturer pool isanticipated to remain continuously active through May 31, 2020—at that point,all applications will be cleared from the pool. You are welcome to reapply tothe new posting after that date.

The SEHD emphasizesdiverse collaborative partnerships including PK-12 schools, local communities,businesses, government agencies, private foundations, and other universitiesand colleges.

Job Responsibilities:


The purpose of this posting isto expand our pool of Lecturers available to teach off-campus (Continuing andProfessional Education) courses. These are temporary, part-time Lecturerpositions, as we build our capacity to offer quality instruction to allstudents in the School of Education and Human Development.

 

Teaching assignments mayfluctuate and are contingent upon the schedule of courses offered each term,the required number of student enrollments in your tentatively scheduledcourse(s), and budget availability. Thus, we cannot guarantee that you willteach particular courses or that you will actually teach in a given term.




Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:·        At a minimum, an earnedmaster’s degree in relevant content area.

·        Significant successful teachingor work experience in K-12 education, community, or business contexts,especially in urban and diversesettings.


Required Competencies/Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:    

·        Experience with culturally,linguistically, and economically diverse communities, knowledge of urbaneducational community issues, and an interest in collaborating with a varietyof constituencies in an urbanenvironment.

·        Proficient with basictechnology (e.g. MS Office)


Desired Qualifications:     

·        Ed.D. or Ph.D. in Education ora closely related field.

·        Experience teaching at thegraduate level.

·        Experience teaching online orwith blended/hybrid models (e.g. Blackboard or eCollege and LiveText).

 Salary and Benefits:The salary for this position isbased upon course enrollment. Payment amount per enrolled student variesaccording to the established rate of tuition for the specific class or program.

 This part-time appointment isnot eligible for group health, life insurance, and retirement benefits.
