Job Description
The College of Education and Human Development invites applications for a non-tenure track Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Curriculum, Instruction, and Learning Sciences. The candidate will be teaching one to two undergraduate courses per semester and will work closely with the MAC/ACE program coordinator/faculty, field based program coordinator/faculty, and the director of clinical teaching & school university partnerships, university supervisors, cooperating teachers, and clinical teachers to prepare clinical teacher candidates for the edTPA performance assessment and the implementation of Portfolium, an e-portfolio and data storage system. The Clinical Assistant Professor & Assessment Coordinator will report to the Curriculum, Instruction, and Learning Sciences Department Chair. The successful candidate will be required to reside in the Corpus Christi area.
This position is in the Department of Curriculum, Instruction, and Learning Sciences which consists of several programs. Graduate and Undergraduate Programs include courses in Teacher Education, Reading, Bilingual/ESL Education, Early Childhood Education, Instructional Technology, Special Education, and Kinesiology.
Position Duties:
- Teach one or two courses in the Department of Curriculum, Instruction, & Learning Sciences each semester.
- Represent the College of Education & Human Development in the community and with school district partnership.
- Handle confidential information with tact and discretion.
- Provide leadership, communication and regular updates for edTPA/Portfolium throughout the COEHD departments and partnership school districts.
- Meet with the Dean, CILS Department Chair, CILS Program Coordinators, and Certification Personnel on a regular basis.
- Facilitate edTPA and Portfolium training and mentoring for elementary and secondary education candidates, faculty, staff, clinical teacher supervisors and cooperating teachers.
- Provide logistical and technical support and assist students as they submit their edTPA's. or their Portfolium pathways
- Maintain a student performance database and provide analysis on completed edTPA's and Portfolium pathways.
- Serve as the COEHD edTPA and Portfolium liaison and provide constant communication with Pearson and Portfolium.
- Support students in the field and with edTPA and Portfolium pathways uploads.
- Participate in edTPA and Portfolium webinars; attend edTPA or Portfolium training and statewide meetings.
- Develop and facilitate remediation plans for unacceptable edTPA's.
- Facilitate the implementation of Portfolium pathways.
- Lead edTPA Task Force Committee meetings to develop, plan, and review policy for edTPA remediation.
- Serve on any COEHD or CILS Department Committee directly related to edTPA and Portfolium
Required Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Education
- 5+ years of EC-12 teaching experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- PhD or EdD in Education
- 10+ years of teaching and/or administrator experience
- Knowledge of the TTESS process (Texas Teacher Evaluation Support System).
- Experience with edTPA/Portfolium/or online assessment data systems.
