Job Details
The general purpose, scope, and responsibilities of this position. A Data Operations Manager is responsible for updating and managing the quality of the Pardee Center's data projects and database platforms, which exist in various formats. This position is responsible for leading a team of students tasked with updating data series for the International Futures model as well as other project data. In addition, this position is responsible for developing and maintaining database management tools developed by the Pardee Center, including DataGator.
Essential Functions
- Must have a demonstrated commitment to fostering an environment in which faculty, staff, students, and community partners from diverse backgrounds and cultural identities feel welcome and valued
- Effective communicator in oral and written form
- Strong interpersonal communication skills to build relationships with research staff, student employees, and colleagues across campus
- Significant knowledge of Microsoft Access, Visual Basic 6, Visual Studio, the underlying code and structure of the International Futures modeling platform
- Ability to lead software development using a project management framework, including Agile, Scrum, or Github workflows
- Familiarity with data systems such as Redis, MongoDB, ElasticSearch, Hadoop, Spark, Flink, and Neo4J
- MA in Computer Science, Database Management, or related field
- Experience in programming with the following: Python, SQL, Visual Basic/Studio or other relevant coding languages
- Experience in data engineering, including hands-on experiences with designing and querying relational (SQL) databases, processing semi-structural data such as XML/JSON/CSV, and knowledge about non-SQL/big-data/graph data systems.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Access
- PhD in Computer Science, Database Management, or related field
- Experience developing projects using d3.js, Java, and R
- Experience developing JSON-based REST API's to expose entities through the Web.
- Experience leading a team of developers through the lifecycle of a software development project, including planning, development, testing, releasing, and technical support.
- Fast-paced office environment
- Unexpected interruptions occur often and stress level is moderate to high
- Noise level is quiet to moderate
- Ability to sit in front of a computer for an extended period of time
- Occasionally required to move about the office/campus with the capability of transporting objects up to 20 lbs
- Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Salary Range:
