The Languages and Cultures faculty in the College of Integrative Sciences and Arts on the Downtown Campus at Arizona State University invites applications for an English Instructor for the 2019-2020 academic year. The successful candidate will provide instruction in the area of English composition while working alongside faculty in Humanities, Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences in order to provide students in those disciplines a solid set of writing skills for future and continued success at Arizona State University. English course assignments are at the undergraduate levels, and may occur in a variety of modalities (online, on-ground, hybrid), on the Downtown Phoenix campus. The course load is determined by the faculty head and typically consists of five classes per semester, with no service component. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible, non-tenure eligible position renewable on an academic year basis contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of resources, and the needs of the university. Required Qualifications:
Master’s degree Rhetoric and Composition, or a related field
Two years post-secondary experience teaching English composition courses
 Evidence of excellent teaching ability
 Excellent English written and spoken communication skills
 Stated commitment meeting the needs of diverse student populations and/or reaching out to diverse communities

Desired Qualifications:
 A PhD in English or related field
 Evidence of professional development activities and program development
 Experience teaching students for whom English is a second language
 Experience teaching developmental English
 Evidence of attendance/presentations at professional conferences
 Evidence of development of technology-enhanced curriculum
 Evidence of scholarly or creative activity (e.g., publications in professional journals, original published writing) related to candidate’s field
