Pay for this position is based on a 9 month contract. This position will be located at the WCJC Richmond Campus. This position will primarily be responsible for teaching computer programming courses along with other computer science courses as needed.

The permanent responsibility of a faculty member is to provide the most effective instruction possible in his/her discipline. Supervision is received from appropriate supervisor. The faculty member works to insure that his/her instruction is meeting the educational needs of students.

Requirements:
This position requires a Master's Degree (in Computer Science or other discipline) and a minimum of 18 graduate hours in Computer Science from a regionally accredited institution. A criminal background check is required.

Wharton County Junior College is a public, two-year, comprehensive community college offering a wide range of post-secondary educational programs and services including associate degrees, certificates, continuing-education courses, cultural affairs, and leisure-time activities for the benefit of the community and a population of students that varies in age, background, and ability.

Wharton County Junior College has a proud history dating back to its inception in the early 1940’s. First classes were held in September 1946 with the college continuing to grow and expand from its initial Wharton Campus. Today, the diverse student population of approximately 9000 full time and part time students on WCJC’s four campuses have the opportunity to learn real life and textbook knowledge from talented outstanding faculty. WCJC offers its students a vibrant future, providing a comprehensive curriculum with an Associate of Arts Degree and Associate of Applied Science Degrees and Certificates. The college is one of the few junior/community colleges in Texas with dorms and college athletics. WCJC offers intercollegiate competition in men’s baseball, men’s and women’s rodeo, and women’s volleyball.

The Main Campus is located just a short distance to wide variety of outstanding and varied fine art and sports entertainment opportunities. Metropolitan Houston is only one of five cities in the U.S. with permanent professional resident companies in all of the major performing arts disciplines: the Houston Grand Opera, the Houston Symphony, the Houston Ballet, and the Alley Theater. Numerous other live theater opportunities, such as the Theater Under The Stars, are spread throughout the metropolitan area. The Astros, Texans, Rockets, and Dynamos provide fun and exciting sports entertainment. The Museum of Fine Arts, Menil Collection, and the Museum of Natural History are some of the thirty plus museums that provide additional entertainment venues.

The Sugar Land Campus and Ft. Bend Technical Center Campus, which are located in Ft. Bend County one the fastest growing areas in the US, offers additional sports and entertainment activities. The Skeeter’s Baseball Team offers excitement in a stadium located between Wharton and Houston. Excellent movie and live theater opportunities are available. Be sure to check out the Stafford Centre Performing Arts Theatre. The Bay City Campus, providing primarily courses supporting the technology fields for the surrounding Nuclear Power and Process Technology plants, is a short drive from the coast. Fishing, Boating, and a variety of outdoor activities are available.
