Job Summary/Basic Function:
SUMMARY OF POSITION

The University of North Texas Libraries seeks innovative candidates who have a strong commitment to service and learning for the position of Online Learning Librarian. Reporting to the Head of Library Research Support Services, the Online Learning Librarian will work in a dynamic, active learning environment, collaborating closely with individuals across the Libraries and the University to support and enhance the delivery of library information and research support in online formats. The Online Learning Librarian will provide leadership in the development and design of online learning strategies, online learning objects, and best practices to support the UNT Libraries' Strategic Directions. This newly created position will enhance the student learning experience and promote student success by serving as a resource for teaching and learning in the library and on campus and will work to form close collaborative relationships with groups that support the UNT teaching community such as the Center for Learning Experimentation, Application and Research (CLEAR) and Career Connect.


SPECIFIC POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
* Oversee online learning initiatives for the Libraries, which includes development, design and assessment of online learning strategies
* Coordinate the development and design of web-based tutorials, videos and other online learning objects to support library instruction
* Stay abreast of emerging trends and best practices in instructional technologies and online learning, and provide training to librarians and staff on technologies that promote more effective ways to deliver library instruction and online learning
* Work collaboratively with subject librarians in online instruction design
* Serve as Chair of the Libraries' LibGuides Administration Team
* Serve as the Libraries' liaison to the Center for Learning Experimentation, Application and Research (CLEAR), collaborating on ways to integrate library instruction materials into online courses through the Canvas learning management system.
* Serve as the Libraries' liaison to the UNT New College at Frisco
* Serve on the Libraries' Career Connect Team
* Depending on the needs of the Libraries, serve as subject librarian for one or more academic programs
* Foster positive relations with faculty, students, and staff and promote the University's and Libraries' commitment to diversity.
* Perform research assistance services, give guest lectures, and serve on other library and university committees as assigned.
* According to expectations for library faculty members, contribute professionally through scholarship and service to the university and external communities.

Minimum Qualifications:
* ALA-accredited master's degree in library or information science, an international equivalent, or a relevant advanced degree in another field
* Two years of experience working in higher education or a library setting
* Demonstrated knowledge of pedagogy, including learning theory or adult learning strategies, for face-to-face, online and blended courses
* Demonstrated experience creating tutorials, guides and other learning objects
* Strong commitment to public service and engagement
* Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
* Demonstrated proficiency in a Windows computing environment and with Microsoft Office applications
* Demonstrated problem-solving capabilities
* Demonstrated ability to be organized, adjust priorities, manage time wisely, and make quick, effective decisions in a fast-paced environment
* Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations
* Must be able to travel regularly to other UNT locations in the Dallas/Fort Worth metropolitan area. Days and times of travel will vary.

Preferred Qualifications:
* Demonstrated knowledge of instructional design and learning technologies for face-to-face, online and blended courses
* Experience designing and delivering academic library instruction in various formats
* Demonstrated experience using the LibGuides platform
* Demonstrated experience using Canvas or another learning management system
* Demonstrated experience managing projects effectively
* Experience assessing services for effectiveness
* Demonstrated experience working collaboratively and leading a team
* Demonstrated experience providing training in the use of new technologies and resources
* Familiarity with Open Educational Resources and digital scholarship initiatives
* Familiarity with accessibility standards
* Demonstrated contribution to the profession through scholarly publications, presentations or contributions to professional organizations
