Vice President of Student AffairsDescription/Job Summary The Vice President serves as the College’s Chief Student Affairs officer, and reports directly to the President. The candidate for this position should possess significant work experience in student affairs. The Vice President provides leadership in the administration of a comprehensive range of programs and services for students; supports a campus culture that promotes the academic achievement and personal development of all students; provides oversight and assistance with student related conduct and crisis response, and maintains the integrity of the athletic programs to ensure adherence to Title IX of the Education Amendment Act. Responsibilities/Duties
  • Provides for the integration between student affairs and academic affairs;
  • Establishes a cohesive and collaborative student affairs team;
  • Provides strategic planning to manage organizational change;
  • Works collaboratively with Faculty/Staff/Students;
  • Oversees and provides leadership for the following areas: Scholars Programs, Off-Campus Student Services, Student Life, Student Development, Enrollment Management , Student Success which includes Disability Support Services, First year Experience and Student Success Call Center, Career Development and Employment, Educational Talent Search (TRIO) Program, Upward Bound (TRIO) Program, International Students and Veterans Affairs, Intercollegiate Athletics, Records and Registration, Graduation Services, Testing Center, Financial Aid & Retention Services, Disability Support Services, and Student Support Services (TRIO) Program;
  • Implements performance assessment processes and accountability systems within the division;
  • Promotes brand awareness for Baltimore City Community College to support academic programs in order to increase enrollment, retention rates, graduation rates and the employability of students;
  • Consults with the College’s Assistant Attorney General (AAG) to implement policies and procedures relating to administrative matters;
  • Integrate business and administrative functions to achieve a level of efficiency and effectiveness in support of the College’s strategic plan and mission;
  • Provides leadership to staff members and establishes goals, objectives, and priorities for staff, and assesses staff performance at regular intervals;
  • Recognizes staff success and counsels staff as appropriate regarding performance and conduct:
  • Ensures the professional development opportunities for Student Affairs staff;
  • Collaborates with the President on work related matters; apprises the President on all fiscal, budget and administrative matters pertaining to Student Affairs in a timely manner;
  • Collaborates with Vice Presidents from various divisions to develop, design and implement a wide range of College strategic initiatives;
  • Develops budget and oversees fiscal management and strategic planning for the division;
  • Establishes relationships/partnerships with various businesses and external agencies that support the College’s overall strategic plan and mission;
  • Communicates regularly with the College Community regarding changes to Student Affairs as it pertains to Faculty/Staff/Students;
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Required Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Higher Education administration or a related field from an accredited College or University. PhD strongly preferred.
  • Ten years of progressively responsible student affairs experience, adult education or higher education administration experience including five years of leadership experience
  • A successful record of administration including planning, resource and personnel management and program development
  • Demonstrated experience integrating student affairs and academic affairs
  • Ability to establish a cohesive and collaborative student affairs staff team
  • Demonstrated experience with strategic planning and managing organizational change
  • Ability to work collaboratively with Faculty/Staff/Student
