Lafayette College Counseling Center
Staff Counselor, 10 month position

 Responsibilities

  • Providing short-term individual, couples, and group counseling
  • Evaluating and responding to students in crisis during and after business hours
  • Consulting with faculty, staff,  parents, and health care providers
  • Delivering outreach programs to the community on topics related to counseling and mental health
  • Training student leaders
  • Providing clinical supervision to practicum trainees
  • Participating in meetings and committees of the Division of Campus Life

About the Center: The Counseling Center provides high quality counseling and educational programs designed to help students learn how to identify and meet their intellectual, interpersonal, and developmental goals and to promote a healthy, equitable, and positive campus community. The Center also provides crisis intervention andconsultation to faculty, staff, and parents to assist them in their efforts to promote student learning and well-being.

College Description
Lafayette College is a highly selective private undergraduate college of over 2,500 students. The College is distinguished by a strong curriculum in the liberal arts, the sciences, and engineering. Lafayette’s 110-acre campus is located ninety minutes from both New York City and Philadelphia. Situated on a hill overlooking the Delaware River, the College is easily accessible by air travel, being only twenty minutes from Lehigh Valley International Airport and one hour from Newark International Airport.
 


 
 
 

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:  The ideal candidate will be licensed as a Psychologist in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, hold a doctoral degree in counseling/clinical psychology from an accredited institution, and have experience working with young adults. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in a college or university counseling center and who have experience and demonstrated commitment to providing culturally-aware counseling to persons of color, members of the GLBTQ community, low income individuals, first generation college students and/or international students. Candidates should be dedicated to ongoing professional development and to working collaboratively with colleagues in and out of the Counseling Center. Individuals who are eligible to become licensed as psychologists within one year may be considered.
