Compensation: Hourly Rate of $16.65 - $19.98 as per the Santa Fe College Salary Schedule. Limited to no more than 28.5 hours per week.

Description:

The College Achievement Program (CAP) facilitates a six-week bridge Summer Enrichment Experience to prepare minority and underrepresented students for college. As CAP provides opportunities for academic and intellectual development; the program is designed to motivate students, enhance their college experience and propel them to successful completion of their college degree. CAP embraces a holistic model that fosters a passion for students’ success, perseverance, hope, character development, and sound decision making. The program challenges students to explore and grow intellectually, socially, and emotionally as they develop their understanding, self-awareness, and ability to make mindful decisions that will have an enduring impact on their personal, academic and professional development. The CAP Office also conducts various workshops on a wide-range of topics that include: steps to a positive college experience, financial literacy, self-esteem, study skills, time management, keys to excellent writing, math anxiety, emotional intelligences, and etiquette. The CAP Office works collaboratively with various partners to provide a gateway to academic success and degree completion. CAP is committed to the overall success and empowerment of students.

Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Advise, counsel and mentor students on overall personal/professional development, term-to-term persistence certificate/degree completion, appropriate student conduct, and college culture.
  • Review and report on the CAP participants’ academic progress.
  • Recruit and interview potential participants for the Summer Enrichment Experience in Alachua and Bradford Counties
  • Assess CAP services and initiatives.
  • Strictly honor student confidentiality and exhibit sensitivity toward all students.
  • Provide service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible and professional engagement.
  • Participate in CAP and other types of professional development opportunities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Reports to: Coordinator, College Achievement Program (CAP)

Qualifications:

Required: A Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Counseling, Student Development or a relevant field is required. A criminal background check will be conducted.

Preferred: Experience working within diverse educational communities of teachers, students, parents, and community members.

  • Organization & Time Management – able to plan, schedule, and organize tasks related to the job to achieve goals within or ahead of established time frames.
  • Problem Solving – proven skills in identifying issues, determining their cause, developing creative solutions, and following through with implementing resolutions.
  • Systems & Software - proficient level of knowledge of Microsoft Office and/or relevant position software programs.
  • Team Orientation & Interpersonal – highly motivated team player with ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with all levels within and external to the organization.
