 TheAnschutz Health & Wellness Center has multiple openings for part-time (0.15FTE, 6 hrs per week), University Staff (unclassified) Group Exercise Instructor(Technician I) positions.

Nature of Work:

TheAnschutz Health and Wellness Center teaches over 70 group exercise classes perweek in Total Body, Mind/Body, Aqua, Cycling and Cardio. This position willlead classes and will be responsible for all logistics including: music,choreography and any certifications needed in order to lead a class. 

 Examples of Work Performed:
  • Instruct clientele in classes hired for in a dependable and consistent manner.
  • Follow procedures set by Group Exercise Coordinator for management of the classes for check-in, attendance, equipment, etc.
  • PLEASENOTE:Candidates will be responsible for travel expenses related to the interviewprocess and any relocation expenses, if applicable

     Salary and Benefits:The hiring salary forthis position has been established at $15 - $55/hour and is commensurate with experience,type of class, and day of class. This position is eligible for overtimecompensation.

     This positionreceives additional compensation for instructing group exercise classes andcompensation is determined by experience, class taught, instructors available.Class rates can be viewed here:  AHWCGroup Exercise Instructor Pay


    QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:
  • For general format class: Current certification from a nationally accredited group (e.g. AFAA, ACE, ACSM, NETA) or Certified Personal Trainer with one year group exercise teaching experience.
  • Current CPR/ AED/ First Aid certification at date of hire.
  • Six (6) months of experience providing group exercise fitness services, personal training or a combination of both.

  • Abilityto lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Sitand stand for long periods of time, frequently walk, and bend/stoop, as well asexecute repetitive motions.
  • Workin an environment that may expose you to fumes, chemicals, blood/body fluids,and infectious disease.
  • Participatein an audition as part of the interview process.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Qualified to teach a variety of Center offerings and substitute for other instructors as needed.
  • For licensed or branded classes: Proof in meeting requirements to teach (E.g. Zumba, Les Mils, Pound, etc.).
  • For classes requiring additional certifications: Proof of certification (e.g. yoga, Pilates, etc.).
  • Competencies/Skills, Knowledge, andAbilities:

  • Ability to instruct in a variety of group exercise classes.
  • Ability to lead classes in a positive/enthusiastic manner to a variety of members, offering modifications/options to members as requested.
  • Ability to instruct classes effectively using both verbal and physical cues.
  • Ability to operate exercise studio audio equipment.
