Position Summary
Job Summary
The Instructional Technologist reports to the Director of Academic Technology and Support. This position provides support for faculty using educational technology tools, including the Learning Management System. Works collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students in the production of training materials suitable for distribution via electronic, face-to-face, digital, and virtual mediums. Supports online course development and delivery, as well as troubleshooting for students taking courses online. This position will also provide secondary support for classroom technology and all campus events.
Specific Responsibilities

  • Provides a positive customer experience as the point of contact for instructional or training support.
  • Provides assistance and training to faculty in technology tools and methods, uses of instructional software, and effective uses of multimedia.
  • Supports online course development and delivery, as well as troubleshooting for students taking courses online.
  • Provides administrative, training, and troubleshooting support for the Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Collaborates with academic & administrative departments to identify training needs and create & deliver training solutions via electronic, face-to-face, digital, and virtual mediums.
  • Produces learning materials in a variety of formats including print, graphics, audio, video, animation and multimedia to support teaching, learning, and university information needs.
  • Supports mobile and desktop platforms for both PC and Mac related to instructional tools.
  • Seeks out and attends training classes and/or conducts independent research to increase knowledge of instructional technology tools.
  • Prepares documentation as assigned which may include training, design, and/or tracking usage.
  • Assists in maintaining inventory of parts and equipment related to technology-enabled spaces.
  • Uses multiple resources (i.e., technical books and manuals, Internet web sites) to resolve problems.
  • Provides back-up support to other members of the Academic and Event team in case of absence or work overload.

    Required Qualifications
    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
    Strong interpersonal and communication skills, strong organizational and time management skills, ability to work collaboratively with an academic community; ability to complete work efficiently and independently as well as in a team; excellent customer service skills
    Bachelor's degree required.
    Minimum of two years' experience in educational technology, education, educational programming, or academic technology is required.
    Physical Demand
    Work is primarily performed in a university campus environment. Position requires the ability to move about the campus. Position requires the ability to talk and to hear instruction. Position requires occasional manual dexterity and the ability to use fingers, hands, and arms to feel, handle, and reach. Position requires occasional sitting, walking, stooping, crouching and bending. Position requires the ability to occasionally lift up to 60 pounds and requires hand/eye coordination in the efficient operation and setup of computers and related equipment. Working conditions are mostly indoor. Some weekend and evening work may be required.

    Preferred Qualifications
    Master's degree in a related field preferred.
