Nature of Work

Assist the Director of Recreation and Wellness in the administration of the Kids in College academic summer camp program.

This position is a part-time temporary position which will require instructors to work 35-40 hours per week for their assigned weeks. The position, which reports to the Director of Recreation and Wellness, requires instructors to work with campers, parents, CCGA students, and staff in the classroom, on campus, and off campus. Instructors will create and administer the curriculum for the academic summer camp in form of classroom activities and scheduled field trips in the areas of STEM, Fine Arts, Leadership, and Sports for ages 8-13.

Essential Duties

•Serve as representative of the College, Department of Student Affairs and Office of Student Life
•Dress for work in a neat and clean manner; Maintain a professional and friendly demeanor with constituents
•Instructors lead daily classroom activities and scheduled field trips in the areas of STEM, Fine Arts, Leadership and Sports
•Work within the framework of the camp to construct a robust and engaging curriculum for campers of various ages (8-13) and abilities.
•Maintain a strong and respectful presence on and off campus to ensure campers have a safe and rewarding experience
•Respond to emergency situations (e.g. injury, altercation) in a calm and confident manner by following appropriate emergency procedures and documenting accordingly
•Other camp-related duties as assigned
•Comply with the Programs Serving Minors policy.
•The position is designated by the institution as a Position of Trust.

Minimum Qualifications and Training

•Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
•Previous classroom experience
•Must possess a valid driver’s license and satisfactorily pass a driver history check
•Must satisfactorily pass a criminal background investigation
•Must possess strong customer service and communication skills
•Must complete training for the Programs Serving Minors policy
•Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug test and will be subject to random drug testing.

Preferred Qualifications and Training

•Demonstrates ability to manage campers in the classroom and on field trips
•Demonstrates ability to handle new situations or tasks and to adapt or learn quickly
•CPR/AED Certified
•Ability to lift at least 40 lbs.
