TheRN-Staff/Clinical Nurse within the Lewis Katz School of Medicine’s ThoracicMedicine & Surgery Department will assist in delivering high quality andefficient medical care.  

 

Responsibilitiesinclude: addressing all patient calls and messages via EPIC of a clinicalnature; processing prescription refills through EPIC; working closelywith the TMS call center staff and Nurse Practitioners. The RN will also workclosely with the physicians and the nurse practitioner team in assessing andresponding to patient needs. Primarily, the RN will support the department callcenter by appropriately fielding and triaging telephone calls from patientsregarding medication changes, clinical status, prescription renewals, changesin condition and other related task. The RN will also provide basic educationand direction to the call center clerical staff in identifying urgent patientmedical needs; and working with the precertification coordinator by obtainingprior authorizations or filing appeals for testing, pharmacy or durable medicalequipment requests. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

RequiredEducation and Experience:

Professionallicensure as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of PA. BLS certificationrequired.

*Demonstratedhigh degree of professionalism and nursing competence.

*Effectiveand professional oral and written communication skills.

*Demonstratedability to maintain positive interactions with patients, their families andassociated medical professionals in a respectful and courteous manner.

*Provenorganizational and time management skills with a strong attention to detail.

*Mustbe self-motivated with the ability to adapt to change.

*Excellentinterpersonal skills and ability to work effectively as a member of aninter-disciplinary team.

*Abilityto operate standard office equipment and software including Microsoft Office.

*Abilityto work overtime.

 

Preferred:

Epicexperience.

BilingualSpanish speaking skills.
