Compensation: Starting Salary of $24,960 as per the Santa Fe College Salary Schedule. Compensation package is comprised of many college paid benefits including health and life insurance, retirement, leave time, and tuition waivers for Santa Fe College and the University of Florida.

Description:

The Moving Department within Facilities Services is responsible for making the moving process for the Santa Fe College Northwest campus, as well as the college’s six (6) educational centers efficient and manageable. The Moving Department seeks a Mover to assist with the movement of College property, furniture and office equipment, student supplies, and other items. The Mover assists with preparing, setting up, removing, assembling, un-assembling, loading, and unloading various items. Moves can range from just a single item to an entire office. Items to be moved can often be heavy and involve stairways, therefore the effective use of moving tools, physical strength and stamina are necessary.

Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Receive and process work orders for completion; may serve as the main contact person in communications with customers regarding work orders.

  • Operate a large moving truck in the transportation of furniture, materials, and other items as requested.

  • Load and unload furniture and related material onto and off trucks; ensure that appropriate padding and ropes are used to prevent damage.

  • Arrange and set up furniture and related items for classrooms, meetings, and other events.

  • Locate and relocate desks, chairs, tables, bookcases, and other related office equipment and furniture.

  • Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.

  • Work in a safe and courteous manner while interacting with both faculty and students.

  • Assist with set up and breakdown of events throughout the school semester.

  • Assist other trades as needed.

  • Provide service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible, and professional engagement.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Reports to: Senior Mover, Facilities Services

Qualifications:

Required: High School diploma or equivalent.

Additional Requirements: A valid Florida Driver License, as well as the ability to meet the college's approval to drive guidelines (Driving Requirements) are required. A criminal background check will be conducted.
