 Nature of Work:
The University of Colorado Denver, Anschutz Medical Campus, Pulmonary Sciencesand Critical Care Medicine Division is seeking applications for energetic,collegial individuals for a full-time Advanced Practice Provider (NursePractitioner OR Physician’s Assistant) position to provide daytime andnighttime coverage within the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) of theUniversity of Colorado Hospital. This position would hold the faculty title ofInstructor of Medicine within the School of Medicine, Department of Medicine,Pulmonary Sciences and Critical Care Medicine Division. The division oversees aregionally and internationally recognized referral center for the care ofpatients with all forms of pulmonary disease and critical illness. Theresponsibilities would include the assessment and ongoing management ofpatients with underlying pulmonary disease and critical illness. The providerwould work closely with the physicians (including residents, fellows, and othertrainees) within the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU).

 Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Inpatient assessment andcare of patients with pulmonary complaints and disease(s)
  • Inpatient assessment andcare of patients with critical medical illness 
  • Assisting physicians inthe inpatient care of this same patient population 
  • Scheduling ofevaluations and tests
  • Engaging andcommunicating with consulting services 
Supervision Received:

Direct supervision atall hours by pulmonary and critical care board certified physicians overseeingthe MICU with primary reporting to the Pulmonary and Critical Care Lead APP andthe MICU Medical Director.

 Supervision Exercised:

This position requiresno supervisory duties.


Salary and Benefits:

The hiring salary for thispositon is negotiable and commensurate with skills and experience.  This position is not eligible for overtimecompensation.

QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:
  • Nurse Practitionersshould be board certified or board eligible for certification in acute care
  • Physician’s Assistantsshould have acute and/or critical care experience
  • Eligible or licensed inColorado (would need to obtain CO license before
  • working)
  • Certified to seeadolescents and adults
Desired Qualifications:
  • Excellent communicationskills to interact with multiple medical providers and disciplines
  • Excellent bedside mannerand physical exam skills
  • General InternalMedicine knowledge base (advanced lung disease and critical illness-related specialized knowledge and skillsare desirable, but not required as they will be obtained as on-the-jobtraining).
  • Pulmonary Medicine,Intensive Care, or Subspecialty background preferred, but not required
