Duties/Responsibilities

Food Preparation – Performs a variety of kitchen scale food preparation duties, such as preparing products for different clients following the cooking instructions provided by the research leader. FoodPIC product include baked goods, dried good, beverages and dairy-based foods and beverages. Part of duties include organizing raw materials for product productions trials.

Clean Up and Packaging – Performs packaging of different food products by hand in pouches, bottles or boxed for consumer tests of shelf life studies. Cleaning up the productions areas before and after the manufacture of these food products is critical to ensure that safe foods have been made prior to consumer testing. Cleaning up the equipment and dishes used in the production of these products is also part of this role.

Food Delivery & Ingredient Shopping – Performs grocery shopping at local food stores for raw materials to be used in the production of samples and products for FoodPIC clients. On occasion, the Lab Assistant will be asked to deliver the packaged products in a truck to field locations when required by the client.

The Lab/Research position functions under the direction of FoodPIC Personnel. The Lab/Research position performs a variety of routine duties, such as preparing & testing food products, organizing raw materials, packaging products for consumer tests, cleaning dishes, washing equipment and assisting FoodPIC personnel with other duties as needed. There may be times when the assistant will be needed to work with FoodPIC team members on larger scale production runs in the pilot plant, using Good Manufacturing Principles (GMP).

Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification in Position

The preferred candidate is comfortable working in a kitchen environment and preparing food products by carefully following written recipes, while also adhering to safe manufacturing practices. Cleaning up work areas after food preparation and packaging is a key activity of this position. Grocery shopping at local stores and occasionally delivering the product in a truck to field locations is also part of the scope of this role.

The Lab/Research position will be required to occasionally lift boxes that weigh 40 lbs. Safe lifting techniques are required.
