The Vice President for Communications is responsible for supporting System Office leadership by providing subject matter expertise and oversight of the University’s branding, strategic communications, media affairs, social media, web, and community relations activities. This role will successfully promote the strategic goals and objectives of the University to a variety of internal and external constituencies to enable a climate of public and private support for public higher education in North Carolina. This includes formulating and implementing a comprehensive media relations program, overseeing a strategic branding strategy, and producing a variety of communications work products that advance the University’s goals and priorities at the local, state, national, and global levels. The Vice President will also provide leadership and subject matter expertise to the communications practitioner community of the constituent universities to ensure appropriate alignment among a diverse set of institutional communications efforts. The position incumbent will also partner closely with State and Federal Relations colleagues at the System Office to devise strategic messaging aimed at furthering relationships and key policy outcomes with governmental bodies. This position manages a team of six professionals.
