The Chancellor’s Faculty Excellence Program is a cluster hire program that marks the first major initiative of the university’s strategic plan, “The Pathway to the Future.” NC State will soon complete its first cohort of twelve clusters, that will result in 44 new faculty members. Due to the success of the first cohort of clusters, the Chancellor released a second cohort of eight new clusters that began recruiting in the spring of 2015 which will bring an additional 33 faculty members. The Chancellor’s Faculty Excellence Program is bringing some of the best and brightest minds to join NC State University’s interdisciplinary efforts to solve some of the globe’s most significant problems. Guided by a strong strategic plan and an aggressive vision, the cluster hiring program is adding new faculty members in select fields to add more breadth and depth to NC State’s already-strong efforts. As part of the Chancellor’s Faculty Excellence Program, the Carbon-based Electronics, Spintronics, and Photonics Cluster at NC State University seeks candidates to fill a Tenured Faculty Position (Associate or Full Professor) with expertise in synthetic materials chemistry. The ideal candidate should be a visionary leader in materials chemistry with demonstrated research excellence in the synthesis and characterization of organic, polymeric, and other carbon-based materials (including hybrids) for electronics, photonics, and related technologies. Priority will be given to candidates that have demonstrated interdisciplinary collaborations that cut across academic units and are able to generate the requisite research funding necessary for supporting these activities.Other Work/ResponsibilitiesMinimum Education/Experience
A Ph.D. in Chemistry or related discipline from an accredited institution.Departmental Required Skills
The candidate should have extensive experience teaching in the University Chemistry curriculum at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
The candidate must also have experience in the research mentoring of doctoral students and postdoctoral fellows as evidenced through publication of research articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals.Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
