Job Description:
York Country Day School is seeking a full-time Lead Teacher to join our well-established primary team in the full day Pre-Kindergarten classroom. Candidates are expected to have depth, breadth, and understanding of the developmental needs of 4 to 5-year-olds and demonstrate a passion for working with children. Candidates should have a minimum of five years of teaching experience and a master's degree is preferred.
The person hired for this position will be expected to:
- Plan and implement activities in the YCDS curriculum that nurture and develop the physical, emotional, intellectual, and social skills of young children
- Observe children to assess their developmental level, interests, and needs and use this information to facilitate learning and growth
- Exhibit kindness, respect, and compassion in all interactions with children, parents, and colleagues
- Communicate knowledgeably and effectively with parents and colleagues about students and curriculum
Requirements:
Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's Degree in Early Education and at least five years of teaching experience. An ideal candidate has a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and excellent communication and organizational skills. The position begins mid-August 2019. Candidates should demonstrate a willingness to be challenged and grow professionally.
