Job Summary Requisition Number: 30150 Job Title: FACILITIES WORKER Working Title: Facilities Worker - Sheetmetal Shop (Limited) Salary: $24.91 hourly Job Type: Limited Department Name: 3415-MAINTENANCE AND ALTERATIONS Department Website URL: Job Summary Statement: Under general supervision, assist and/or perform routine semi-skilled and unskilled maintenance, alterations and repair of sheetmetal products and various other metal products of campus buildings and related facilities using appropriate tools and equipment. Assist Journey Sheetmetal Workers and/or Facilities Mechanic(s) with tasks related to maintenance, replacement, or installation of sheetmetal or various metal products systems and equipment. Identify malfunctions or problems and report to Supervisor and/or Lead Sheetmetal Worker. Duties include simple routine and/or unskilled repairs or replacement of sheetmetal or various metal products, systems or equipment, and other related duties such as: operating and maintaining a variety of power or hand tools; transporting materials and personnel to and from job site; cleaning up job site and returning equipment and following all safety procedures. Percentage of Time: 100 Shift Start: 7:00 am Shift End: 3:30 pm function checkForSelectedStatus(){ return true;} Qualifications for Position 21 Records Qualifications Required/Preferred 1)Ability to perform routine sheet metal maintenance tasks, including minor repairs. Required 2) Working knowledge of the various power and hand tools, equipment, and materials of the sheetmetal worker's trade. Required 3) Ability to work as part of a team through close collaboration with colleagues. Required 4) Skill in reading project specifications, blue prints, and technical trade related manuals. Preferred 5) Oral communication skills to obtain or convey clear, concise and grammatically correct information Required 6) Skill in writing simple English phrases using correct grammar and spelling to complete reports that are accurate and easy to comprehend. Required 7) Skill in performing basic mathematical calculations: adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing. Required 8) Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments. Required 9) Working knowledge of standard safe work practices. Required 10) Ability to adhere to department policies and procedures. Required 11) Working knowledge of a variety of sheetmetal and/or various other metal products, systems, and equipment. Preferred 12) Ability to identify malfunctions, signs of damage, deterioration and/or the need for repair/replacement of sheetmetal products, systems and equipment. Required 13) Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships and maintain a positive and respectful attitude. Required 14) Ability to prioritize assignments and complete projects in a timely manner. Required 15) Ability to consistently report to work on time prepared to perform the duties of the position. Required 16) Ability to work occasional overtime during the week or weekends as needed. Required 17) Ability to stand, crawl, walk, stoop, push, pull and lift or lower objects weighing up to 50 lbs. Required 18) Ability to work indoors and outdoors, in wet or humid weather, and in fluctuating and/or extreme temperatures. Required 19) Ability to work under adverse situations and conditions, e.g. confined spaces, dirty, noisy, etc. Required 20. Skill in reading standard English text in order to follow through on written orders and carry out assignments. Required 21) Must possess California Driver's License, Class C, and the ability to drive a University truck or other light vehicle in the course of job duties.
