Position Status: Full-Time

Position Summary:
Herty Advanced Materials Development Center. The Pilot Plant Technician II refines and monitors stock preparation equipment. As a paper machine dry end tester, this position performs equipment staging, basic maintenance, and repairs and ensures equipment is clean and in safe working conditions. The Pilot Plant Technician II works four 10 hour days Monday through Thursday. Overtime may be required.

Essential Functions

  • Tests samples of each roll of paper.
  • Runs basis weight for moisture of finished roll.
  • Interfaces with clients systems to enter date and create tickets.
  • Disperses pulp and adjust consistency of stock for refining.
  • Controls equipment which processes materials for specified product.
  • Monitors pressure and flows, reads gauges and adjusts valves.

    High School Diploma or equivalent

    Two or more years of related work experience; previous supervisory experience

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
    Knowledgeable about stock prep, refiner, Specialty Product Calendars (SPC) and mechanical operations of equipment; detailed oriented; ability to move objects up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation; effective communication (verbal and written), organization and human relations skills; ability to work well in a diverse environment; proficiency with computer and Microsoft Office Applications software including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases; legally authorized to work in the United States; successful completion background investigation and pre-employment urinalysis prior to employment.

    Preferred Education:

    Preferred Experience::
    Two or more years of related work experience as a Technician; supervisory experience

    Salary Range: $20.00 per hour
