The Faculty & Staff Help Center is looking for a Help Center Counselor who will provide a wide range of professional support counseling services to faculty and staff, as well as family members at the university, SLAC, and Stanford's two hospitals.




CORE DUTIES*:

  • Provide brief counseling and crisis intervention for individuals, couples, and families addressing a broad range of concerns such as adult relationship issues, job stress, parent-child problems, alcohol and drug abuse, and retirement.

  • Make referrals to appropriate resources and therapists in the community, and follow-up with clients as needed.

  • Provide departmental consultation, consult with faculty, human resource managers, and supervisors regarding workplace behavioral issues and departmental stresses including assessment, referral, conflict resolution, education, and facilitation of group discussions.

  • Develop and/or conduct educational workshops, and facilitate support groups for the Stanford community.

  • Participate in clinical case review and program consultation in collaboration with the director and center staff.

  • Maintain clinical records and case documentation; assist with internal operations and special projects as needed.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:


    Education & Experience:
    Masters in counseling or psychology or related field and one-year relevant post-licensure experience.


    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Expertise in clinical skills in evaluation, crisis intervention, and case management.

  • Proven ability to interact with diverse constituencies.

  • Demonstrated strong communication skills (both verbal and written).


    Certifications and Licenses:

  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapy license, or PhD psychotherapy licensure for California.


    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:

  • Constantly sitting.

  • Occasionally stand/walk, reach/work above shoulders, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, use a computer, use a telephone.

  • Rarely climb (ladders, scaffolds, or other), grasp forcefully, sort/file paperwork or parts, kneel/crawl.
