The Senior Space Planner/Analyst provides a single point-of-contact for geography-related planning questions, including recommending and enforcing space policies, standards, procedures, and protocols. Further, the Senior Space Planner/Analyst supports the occupancy planning staff by participating in day-to-day functions and providing mentorship to junior staff members.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS                                                                                                        

  • Gathers and analyzes information to prepare reports on the progress of projects.
  • Compiles and analyzes information to prepare status reports.
  • Maintains, verifies, and reports on space data and drawings, including space allocation.
  • Leads development of preliminary program requirements for assigned department.
  • Develops migration plans and sequencing of group moves and relocations.
  • Assists in developing site-specific planning strategies with senior leadership.
  • Helps to accurately maintain the database and common data elements, and completes occasional bulk data updates.
  • Formulates and modifies space plans using AutoCAD.
  • Coordinates with project staff to understand and communicate on specific space requirements and constraints.
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field required

Certification and Licensing:

Certification in relevant specialty or field (strongly encouraged)

Experience:

Minimum 7 years of relevant experience

  • Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
  • Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.

Department Specific Functions (Medical campus)

Business Title: Sr. Clinical Space Planner/Analyst (Medical)

The Sr. Clinical Space Planner/Analyst (Medical) serves as a member of the Office of Space Planning & Analysis and is responsible for identifying and evaluating the efficient use of clinical space at the Miller School of Medicine (MSOM)/UHealth. Will work with designated management representatives, including members of the Space Planning & Analysis team to develop and document a coordinated approach to the use of clinical space. Primary duties and responsibilities will occur at the Miller School of Medicine/UHealth or at off-site clinics.

The Sr. Clinical Space Planner/Analyst (Medical) embodies a unique combination of training and background, analytical skills, and spatial abilities and is responsible for developing and maintaining a familiarity with and an understanding of the clinical areas for which he/she is responsible. Ideally, the Sr. Clinical Space Planner/Analyst (Medical) should have either (1) a strong background particularly clinical operations and equipment needs and/or facilities planning and utilization or (2) an architectural background with strong analytical experience with an interest in clinical planning. The Sr. Clinical Space Planner/Analyst (Medical) will serve as the primary person to track assignment of clinical space and develop and generate reports using the space management system.

Specific Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the members of the Clinical Space Planning team.
  • Participate in the collection of data necessary to maintain a reliable database of space assignment.
  • Survey the clinical areas and as-built conditions and report any inconsistencies to correct and update plans as needed.
  • Meet with Department Directors, Clinic Directors, Nurse Managers, and other management representatives to understand past, present, and future resource utilization to best determine present and future space-related requirements.
  • Must have sufficient knowledge, or be able to acquire sufficient knowledge, of how clinics operate in order to be able to identify the use of and potential reallocation of resources.
  • Enter clinical space data into the space management system in accordance with established procedures.
  • Prepare thorough, comprehensive, written analyses and final reports with particular emphasis on present and future space and space-related needs. Reports will include empirical analysis of selected metrics.
  • Problem solve and make recommendations regarding the allocation of clinical space. Develop options (based on knowledge of program needs, institutional resources and priorities, and clinical requirements) for utilization of new, alternative, or reassigned research resources.
