The Department of Finance at the Miami Herbert Business School is seeking a Full-Time Lecturer in Finance with a focus on Real Estate, starting in June 2020. This is a non-tenure track position, with teaching and service responsibilities for graduate and undergraduate classes; most likely teaching assignments are real estate investments, real estate market analysis, real estate investment and corporate finance, and investments classes. Depending on qualifications, the initial appointment is for one academic year, with review and possible extension, but a multi-academic-year contract would be considered. This position does not require academic research.

A graduate degree (masters or doctorate) in finance, real estate or a related field is required. Candidates should be able to offer the following:

  • Substantial professional expertise in the areas of real estate investment, market analysis and development, capital investment analysis, and securities pricing, plus a willingness to interact with the commercial real estate community and to supervise student internships.
  • Excellent presentation skills and the ability to explain financial and real estate concepts in a clear and logical manner.
  • Professional expertise in the teaching material and strong commitment to high-quality instruction and student development. Prior instructional experience would be helpful.
  • A genuine interest in helping students advance their academic and professional careers.

The teaching load is three classes per semester. Salary is competitive.

The Miami Herbert Business School is a comprehensive business school, offering undergraduate business, full-time MBA, Executive MBA, MS, PhD and non-degree executive education programs. It is one of 12 colleges and schools at the University of Miami, which is located in residential Coral Gables, Florida. The University is part of a major hub of international trade and commerce, and acclaimed for its global orientation and the diversity of its faculty, students, and curriculum.

ABOUT THE FINANCE DEPARTMENT:

In addition to teaching, the Department of Finance faculty are actively engaged in research, and in recent years, members of the Department have published their research in a wide variety of top-tier academic journals, including the Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, Review of Financial Studies, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, and Management Science. Department members are active in the editorial process of numerous journals, and have served as Editors and Associate Editors of various academic journals. The Department maintains an active seminar series, and hosts the annual Miami Behavioral Finance Conference. The Department also has a new PhD program in Finance.
